Position: BODY SHOP MANAGER

Jim Taylor Auto Group

Jim Taylor Auto Group is looking for a full-time Body Shop Manager to lead our collision repair operation. We need a strong leader who can drive production, maintain quality, control work in process, and deliver an outstanding customer experience.

This role is a great fit for someone who takes ownership, communicates clearly, and knows how to balance people, process, customer expectations, insurance requirements, and profitability. The right candidate is organized, decisive, team-oriented, and committed to keeping vehicles moving through the repair process safely and efficiently.

Pay:
Base salary plus performance-based bonus tied to production, gross profit, cycle time, and customer satisfaction. Structure discussed during interview.

Responsibilities
  • Lead the daily operations of the body shop and set clear priorities for the team
  • Manage workflow from estimating and blueprinting through parts, repair, paint, reassembly, quality control, and delivery
  • Monitor work-in-process aging, cycle time, touch time, production goals, and delivery commitments
  • Ensure estimates, supplements, documentation, and insurance communication are completed accurately and promptly
  • Manage direct repair program (DRP) relationships, including insurer scorecards, cycle-time requirements, and program compliance
  • Work closely with the parts department to prevent delays caused by backorders, damaged parts, or incorrect parts
  • Monitor labor, parts, paint and materials, sublet, gross profit, and expense performance
  • Maintain high standards for repair quality, safety, final inspections, and customer-ready delivery
  • Coach and develop team members while creating accountability for productivity, quality, attendance, and teamwork
  • Communicate professionally with customers, insurance partners, vendors, and dealership leadership while resolving concerns quickly
Qualifications
  • Minimum 2 years of supervisory or team-lead experience required; collision, body shop, or estimating leadership experience strongly preferred
  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Strong knowledge of collision repair workflow, estimating, supplements, and insurance claim procedures
  • Proven leadership, coaching, and team-development ability
  • Ability to manage work in process, cycle time, deadlines, and multiple priorities
  • Strong understanding of labor, parts, paint and materials, gross profit, and expense control
  • Experience with collision estimating platforms (CCC ONE, Mitchell, or Audatex) and dealership management systems (Tekion) preferred
  • I-CAR (individual or Gold Class shop), ASE, and/or OEM collision certifications preferred
  • Strong customer service, communication, problem-solving, organization, and accountability skills
  • Valid driver's license and clean driving record

Physical Requirements

The body shop is an active production environment. This role requires the ability to stand and walk for extended periods, move throughout the shop and vehicle storage areas, occasionally lift up to 50 pounds, and work around collision repair equipment, chemicals, paint, and noise.
