This position is for a registered nurse who utilizes knowledge, skills, and abilities in wound care and ostomy to assess, plan, implement, evaluate, and reassess patient care.

Education
  • Required:

    Graduate of an accredited nursing school.
  • Preferred:
    Bachelor’s degree in nursing.
Work Experience
  • Required:

    1 year of nursing experience.
  • Preferred: 2 years of wound care experience.
  • Experience directly supervising or managing others.
Certifications
  • Required:

    Current registered nurse (RN) license in state of practice.
  • Required:

    Current Basic Life Support (BLS) for Healthcare Provider status within 30 days of hire.
  • Preferred:
    Wound Treatment Associate (WTA) course completion.
  • Preferred: WOCN, WCC, or CWS certification or other approved wound care related certification within 3 years.

  • Knowledge of wound care concepts and use of special modalities.
  • Excellent interpersonal, negotiation, planning, and problem-solving skills.
  • Proficiency in computers, software, web-based applications, and electronic health records.

Job Duties
  • Provide nursing care for skin/wound conditions including assessment, management, and ongoing evaluation of patients with altered skin/tissue integrity.
  • Deliver patient care based on scientific principles, nursing theory, and evidence-based practice.
  • Provide preventive and therapeutic measures for patients with wound/ostomy needs.
  • Collaborate with interprofessional healthcare professionals to develop appropriate plans of care for patients with wound/ostomy needs, including nutritional and psychosocial components.
  • Educate patients regarding prevention and care of skin breakdown, wound, and/or ostomy management.
  • Delegate wound/ostomy care management and interventions to staff nurses, LPN wound care specialists, and unlicensed assistive personnel, adhering to the nursing scope of practice and state policies.
  • Use evidence-based knowledge and research findings to guide practice and develop strategies to manage care and achieve patient outcomes for acute or chronic wounds.
  • Lead interprofessional teams to communicate, collaborate, and consult effectively, ensuring safe, effective, timely, patient-centered, and equitable care.
  • Evaluate processes, policies, procedures, and protocols for care of acute or chronic wounds and recommend revisions when warranted.
  • Adapt behavior to the specific patient population, respecting privacy and communication style.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.
Physical and Environmental Demands

Medium Work – requires lifting 20 to 50 pounds occasionally, 10 to 25 pounds frequently, or up to 10 pounds constantly. Duties may involve exposure to blood, body fluids, and communicable diseases. Employees may be exposed to hazardous medications or waste.
