Registered Nurse - OR Surgery - Limited

Your job is more than a job. When you first played an "Operation" video game as a kid, you imagined being part of a surgical team. After completing nursing education, you realize that your duty to patient care—before, during, and after surgery—is critical to the surgical nursing role. Your technical expertise is essential, but teamwork and communication are equally important. As the bridge between the patient, the surgeon, and the anesthesiologist, you act as the information gatekeeper, collaborating closely to ensure a smooth operating room experience.

• Prepare patients for surgery, review patient history, and provide patient care and support including supplies, medication administration, patient positioning, vital sign monitoring, and health assessments.
• Perform required clinical documentation and post‑operative assessments.
• Monitor patients after surgery for pain, complications, and healing of the surgical site, following Joint Commission infection control and environment of care requirements.
• Perform CPR or other emergency measures if required.
• Collaborate to identify and meet overall patient care needs, and address incomplete tasks promptly, effectively, and safely.
• Advocate a safe environment for everyone.
• Ensure continuity of care, efficient throughput, consistent communication, and an exceptional experience for every patient.
• Initiate patient and family education on the operation and post‑operation care as required.

• Current nursing license to practice in Louisiana, as defined by the Louisiana State Board of Nursing.
• Current American Heart Association BLS certification.
• Preferred:
  Operating room experience.
