Position Description
Ryder is hiring a Senior Level Diesel Technician in Monroe, Louisiana. Compensation includes hourly pay of $27.16 per hour, a $100 certification bonus up to $700, quarterly bonuses up to $500, and sign‑on bonuses of $1,750 at 30 and 90 days. The role offers a Monday–Friday schedule, 7:00 am – 3:30 pm first shift, and a range of benefits.

- Perform vehicle maintenance and repair duties, including standard and preventive maintenance
- Diagnose complex mechanical and electronic problems utilizing diagnostic computers when applicable
- Complete complex mechanical inspections and repairs with minimal supervision
- Replace defective components as instructed
- Operate unsupervised on most tasks and perform facility maintenance duties
- Interact with customers and drivers to determine the nature of complaints once a task is assigned
- Utilize key functions of the Shop Management System and electronic documentation
- Work in accordance with all federal, provincial, and corporate compliance guidelines (e.g., safety, DOT, MOT)
- Act as a mentor for Tech 1 and Tech 2 levels
- Access and use internal and external maintenance documents
- Support operations as required, including Service Island support
- Complete SBTIII training within 180 days (SBT
220) and two OEM online diagnostic scan tool software courses within 365 days, as required by location
- High school diploma or equivalent, or vocational/technical post‑secondary certification preferred
- At least three years of relevant work experience, preferred
- Basic tools and mechanical repair experience on automotive gas or diesel engines
- Experience with routine preventive maintenance, including oil changes, brake and tire work
- Basic diagnostics and repairs, including AC and electrical systems
- Valid Commercial Driver License (CDL) Class A preferred; ability to obtain CDL within six months after hire if required
- Willingness to pass a Ryder drug test, DOT physical, Ryder road test, and a background and motor vehicle check
- Knowledge of computer skills (PC, Windows, mouse, etc.)
- Experience with mechanical repairs and diagnostics on heavy‑ and medium‑duty equipment (minimum two years)
