Job Purpose
:
Ensures safety and efficient flow of services for clients, visitors and callers by coordinating the Intake process, assessing needs and determining priorities.
Experience and Knowledge
- High School with some college
- Two years experience working in social work, criminal justice field with related classes required
- Intake and Scheduling experience
- Computer Skills
- Knowledge of community/social resources
- Two years experience working with people
- Ability to multitask while maintaining flexibility and professionalism.
- Ability to maintain poise and self- control in crisis situations.
- Ability to access client needs and to determine priorities.
- Ability to communicate with and be sensitive to the needs of people of various backgrounds/Exhibits excellent interpersonal skills.
- Knowledge of current social and economic problems and the way these problems affect families and individuals.
- Ability to identify and use community resources.
- Maintains confidentiality on all clients.
- Ability to effectively plan and arrange work responsibilities.
- Maintains personal appearance consistent with agency image.
- Exhibits strong verbal, written and technological communication skills.
- Ability to work within the purpose structure and constraints of the agency and to make suggestions for change in a responsible manner.

- Orientation
- On-going in-services with local, state, regional and national workshops and conferences.
- Maintains safety of clients and staff at all times by:
- Assessing lethality of individual client situations
- Serving as backup for developing and reviewing safety plans with clients
- Serving as back-up for assisting clients in obtaining protective orders
- Coordinating and cooperating with law enforcement as needed
- Complying with agency procedures, rules and regulations
- Ensures Flow of Services by:
- Establishing initial rapport/trust on behalf of the FJC staff with clients by demonstrating concern and respect for others by listening carefully and without judgment
- Determining the nature of the client’s situation through the intake process.
- Establishing an initial course of action by exploring options within the FJC.
- Obtaining assistance for the client by referring client to appropriate FJC services, securing and scheduling appointments.
- Maintaining client confidentiality and protecting operations by keeping information confidential
- Maintaining client intake records and maintaining computer data
- Maintaining operations by following policies and procedures; participating in quality reviews and reporting needed changes
- Demonstrating a positive attitude through word and action
- Contributing to the team effort by establishing effective communication throughout the Center.
- Provide support and advocacy to adolescent and adult survivors of sexual assault (ages 13 and older) by
- Provide support and advocacy prior to and throughout the forensic/medical exam at the hospital
- Provide information regarding sexual assault, follow-up care and community resources.
- Provide criminal legal interview accompaniment to criminal legal interviews with law enforcement.
- Maintains competent, productive, and satisfied volunteer/intern pool by:
- Working closely with the Volunteer Coordinator to ensure volunteers are oriented to Intake/Safety policies and procedures- supervising, indirectly and through delegations
- Recommending training needs and communicates performance levels of volunteers to Volunteer Coordinator, assists with trainings
- Provides field experience for social work/criminal justice interns working in the Intake area by:
- Providing opportunities for established learning objectives
- Supervising field placement
