Receiving Lumber Specialist (Warehouse / Forklift)
Location: Monroe Distribution Center
Reports To: Distribution Center Manager
Job Type: Full-Time, Day Shift
Are you an experienced warehouse professional with a sharp eye for lumber? Do you enjoy a role where no two days are the same?
We are looking for a Receiving Lumber Specialist to own our lumber inventory and support our broader warehouse team. In this role, you will be our resident wood expert-managing incoming lumber shipments, keeping inventory accurate, and pulling orders to keep our dealer accounts happy. When you aren't managing the lumber yard, you will team up with the rest of our warehouse crew to pull general merchandise, load trailers, and keep the distribution center running smoothly.
If you have forklift experience, know your hardwoods from your softwoods, and love a fast-paced team environment, we want to hear from you.
What You'll Do (Key Responsibilities):Be the Lumber Expert: Inspect incoming shipments, verify quantities against paperwork, check for quality/moisture/damage, and safely stack and organize materials.
Keep Inventory Spot-On: Conduct regular cycle counts and track stock levels so we always know what we have.
Order Fulfillment: Pull, stage, and load lumber orders quickly and accurately for our dealers and customer pickups.
Cross-Functional Support: Step in to pull or receive general merchandise (hardware, plumbing, decking, roofing) and help cut wood or build pallets when needed.
Safety First: Perform daily safety inspections on forklifts, follow OSHA and company safety guidelines, and team up with coworkers for safe two-man lifts on heavy/oversized items.
Secure the Building: Help secure the facility (locking doors and setting alarms) during assigned closing shifts.
Lumber & Wood Knowledge: You can easily tell the difference between various hardwoods, softwoods, and engineered wood products.
Equipment Experience: Skilled and safe forklift operator (experience unloading and stacking large materials is a major plus).
Tech Savvy: Comfortable using handheld barcode scanners and matching paperwork to physical inventory.
Team Player: You are ready to jump in and help colleagues, train new team members, and work independently without needing constant supervision.
Physical Demands of the Role:
Movement: Ability to move around a large warehouse floor and active lumber yard throughout a minimum 8-hour shift.
Lifting: Ability to lift, carry, and maneuver building materials (like lumber, decking, and fencing) weighing up to 50 lbs individually, and heavier items as part of a two-man team lift.
Environment: Ability to work comfortably in a warehouse environment that is subject to hot and cold seasonal temperatures.
Operation: Ability to safely operate a forklift and use handheld scanning equipment.
Great Team Culture: We work hard, look out for each other's safety, and celebrate collective wins.
Cross-Training & Growth: You won't get bored here. You'll learn multiple aspects of our supply chain and distribution operations.
Stable Hours: Consistent scheduling under supportive leadership.
