Position Overview: Monroe Public Schools is seeking a passionate and creative Elementary Art Teacher to join our team. This position is dedicated solely to visual arts instruction for Young 5s through 4th grade. The ideal candidate will inspire curiosity and creativity while fostering artistic expression in a developmentally appropriate and engaging learning environment.

This position may serve students in a variety of instructional settings. Final building and assignment placement will be determined in August based on district needs and enrollment. Placement may include assignment to a parochial school partner location served by Monroe Public Schools.

COMPENSATION
Per Teacher Master Agreement

Basic Qualifications:
  • A valid Michigan Teaching Certificate with the appropriate and required Art Education endorsement.
  • Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively and effectively with parents/guardians and colleagues to support student learning and development.
  • A strong commitment to ongoing professional growth and effective instructional practices.
Preferred Skills and Attributes:
  • Ability to design and implement engaging, standards-based visual art lessons for early elementary students.
  • Strong classroom management, organization, and student engagement strategies suited to young learners.
  • Passion for nurturing artistic development and creative exploration.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Experience integrating visual art with core subjects and school-wide themes is a plus.
Responsibilities Include:
  • Developing and delivering a comprehensive visual arts curriculum aligned with Michigan state standards.
  • Teaching art techniques, elements, and principles appropriate for Young 5s through 4th grade.
  • Creating a safe, inclusive, and encouraging space for students to express themselves artistically.
  • Organizing and displaying student artwork throughout the school and at special events.
  • Assessing student progress and providing constructive feedback to support growth.
  • Collaborating with other educators and participating in school-wide initiatives and professional development.
