Edu Staff Special Education Substitute Teacher
Full-time position available in the Monroe County Early Childhood Special Education program for the 2026-27 school year. Work schedule based on district calendar. Hours and schedule determined at time of assignment. Salary: $145.00/day. Benefits as offered by Edu Staff.
This is an Edu Staff sub teacher position. The sub teacher will be guaranteed work each school day except the day before and after a holiday and on the last day of school. The sub teacher will be automatically assigned to the first opening in his/her designated region; however, the substitute teacher may be moved to a different region/program depending on each region's/program's needs.
It will be the sub teacher's responsibility to monitor the Red Rover system for his/her daily jobs.
Essential duties include reporting to the school office upon arrival, checking out at end of the day, meeting and instructing assigned classes, creating a classroom environment conducive to learning, maintaining accurate records, planning, supervising and providing guidance for students, teacher aides, and volunteers, assisting students with their work, tidying up the classroom, following lesson plans, being prepared to assist in other classrooms during prep hour or breaks, maintaining student confidentiality, disciplining students when necessary following policies, being aware of school policies and procedures regarding lock downs, fire drills, etc.,
interacting with co-workers, administration, students, parents, and the community in positive, supportive and cooperative ways, and performing other related duties as required.
Required qualifications include completion of 60 semester hours of satisfactory credit consolidated at one-year regionally accredited college, community college or university, completion of an orientation session with Edu Staff, obtaining a Substitute Teacher Permit from the State of Michigan if you do not hold a valid Michigan Teaching Certificate, completing the required training modules, demonstrated record of good attendance and punctuality, strong communication and interpersonal skills, and meeting criminal history background requirements.
Preferred qualifications include holding a valid Michigan Teaching Certificate and two or more years of K-12 teaching experience.
Physical demands include reaching with hands and arms, standing, walking, sitting, talking or hearing, using hands to finger, handle or feel objects, tools or controls, climbing or balancing, stooping, kneeling, crouching or crawling, bending at the neck, lifting up to 50 lbs, and specific vision abilities.
Work environment includes moderate to loud noise levels, interacting with the public and other staff, and being directly responsible for the safety, well-being and work output of students.
