Basic FunctionThe Product Metallurgist I and II are responsible for assisting in determining and eliminating the root cause of process and product non-conformances, determining process route, practice design and supporting operations, sales, and customer with metallurgical guidance for improvement and resolution.

Nature & ScopeThis job is accountable for identifying and solving metallurgical problems. The incumbent will assist in determining and eliminating the root cause of non-conformance that are found at the division and/or with the customer. This job reports to QA/Metallurgy and Operational Excellence Manager. This job has several challenges such as combining the efforts of people, equipment and material in order to meet quality goals and standards, while controlling costs within the established guidelines.
Qualification for this job should include a four-year college degree, preferably in a metallurgical engineering or steelmaking knowledge proven through metallurgical experience and a desire to obtain a technical degree.
- Product Metallurgist I: G-Future and/or 1-3 years
- Product Metallurgist II: 5+ years
The incumbent should also have knowledge of grade specifications, customer, and industry specifications. This incumbent should possess basic computer literacy. This job requires the holder to have a completed Product Metallurgist training qualification checklist.
