Ride Development Engineer
Provide ride development engineering support of passive, passive plus, semi-active & advanced electronic ride control products for original equipment (OE) business groups. Scope will include passive damping and electrical controls system tuning to achieve customer ride, handling, & steering objectives.

Major Duties and Responsibilities:
- Develop an understanding of hydraulic damper passive valve systems (past, present & future.)
- Become an expert in understanding & tuning of all Passive & Passive Plus technologies.
- Become an expert in understanding & tuning of all Monroe Intelligent Suspension (MIS) technologies & calibrations tools.
- Work closely with our OE customers in the development of damper valving and electronics calibration for ride & steering control products.
- Work closely with our OE customers to fully evaluate and develop vehicle dynamics systems.
- Work with Valving & Systems Development teams to trouble shoot any vehicle performance issues related to the passive damper valves, software algorithm, controls system, or suspension system.
- Communicate customer requirements, issues and concerns to the Engineering & Business Units.
- Provide input for future ride control enhancements to improve Tenneco's competitive position.
- Support modeling and simulation of electrical dampening systems including but not limited to driver maneuver / road input definition and damper / vehicle response evaluation / correlation
- Assist the advanced development / design groups with future product definition and development.
- Contribute to Systems Engineering projects to develop new and/or improved processes.
- Participate in the creation and review of concept, design, and process FMEAs, DVP&Rs, 8
Ds, DFSS, etc.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Bachelors of Science in Electrical, Mechanical or Mechatronics engineering. A Master's degree in Engineering is a plus.
- Strong English communication skills (verbal & written)
- Disciplined problem solving skills
- Working knowledge of Microsoft Windows software suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Project)
- Comfortable in a hands-on, team oriented and interactive work environment.
- Interest in Vehicle Dynamics / Vehicle Ride, Handling, & Steering development
- Familiarity with ride control products and vehicle suspension systems
- Capability to perform data acquisition and analysis utilizing CAN-based calibration tools, e.g., ETAS INCA, ATI Vision, Intrepid Control Systems Vehicle Spy, etc.
- Willingness and ability to travel, 25% typically with a maximum of 80% (both domestic and international).
Desired Experience:
- Working knowledge of / experience with modeling software or control programs (e.g. ADAMS, Car Sim, AMESim, Matlab/Simulink, Control Desk, dSpace etc.)
- Capability with CAN-based calibration tools (e.g. INCA, ATI Vision, Intrepid, Vehicle Spy, etc.)
