POSITION SUMMARY: The Certified Customs Broker & International Shipping Specialist leads customs compliance and coordinates FEDCO’s international shipments. This role serves as the primary customs resource for import and export activity, supports Foreign Trade Zone compliance, prepares and reviews shipping and entry documentation, works with customers and external partners, and promotes timely, cost-effective movement of goods.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Customs and Trade Compliance

  • Serve as FEDCO’s licensed customs broker resource and primary advisor on import, export, and trade compliance matters.
  • Prepare, review, and process customs, shipping, Foreign-Trade Zone, and export documentation, ensuring compliance with applicable regulations and government agency requirements.
  • Classify products under the Harmonized Tariff Schedule and support valuation, country-of-origin determinations, duty calculations, permits, bonds, licenses, and related filings.
  • Monitor regulatory changes, customs rulings, tariff actions, and trade requirements, communicating business impacts to management and affected departments.

International Shipping and Customer Support

  • Act as the primary customer contact for international shipment requirements, documentation, status updates, and issue resolution.
  • Coordinate customs clearance, transportation, carrier selection, delivery, billing, and document distribution to support timely and cost-effective movement of goods.
  • Collaborate with U.S. Customs and Border Protection, freight forwarders, brokers, carriers, vendors, customers, and internal teams to ensure compliance and efficient shipment execution.
  • Monitor shipment performance, costs, and duty exposure; investigate issues and implement corrective actions to improve service, compliance, and profitability.

Records, Training, and Improvement

  • Maintain accurate, audit-ready customs and international shipping records in accordance with regulatory requirements and FEDCO procedures.
  • Provide training, guidance, and support related to customs, shipping, receiving, trade compliance, and Foreign-Trade Zone activities.
  • Participate in process-improvement initiatives and perform other duties as assigned.

FOREIGN-TRADE ZONE RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Serve as a primary contact for FEDCO’s Foreign-Trade Zone compliance program and maintain required records, procedures, and supporting documentation.
  • Coordinate Foreign-Trade Zone activities with internal departments, external partners, and auditors.
  • Support Foreign-Trade Zone audits, reconciliations, employee training, compliance activities, and continuous-improvement efforts.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
