The Global Commodity Manager is responsible for managing supplier relationships, and developing strategies for a wide range of commodities (spend categories) across multiple business units and product groups to achieve the best value for Tenneco. This person will lead cross functional commodity (spend category) teams to implement strategies, and will also manage a staff of commodity buyers and clerical support.

Job Responsibilities
  • Planning, organization and target setting:
    • Assists with development of and executes an operational AOP and multi-year strategic plan.
  • Controlling / Managing / Problem Solving:
    • Manage commodity savings and strategies for areas of responsibility.
    • Manage the strategic sourcing decision process.
    • Champion cross functional VA/VE and TVM activity between Tenneco and suppliers.
    • Serve as the lead negotiator for Tenneco during difficult or senior level negotiations.
    • Cultivate and direct a team of commodity managers, buyers and clerical staff to achieve department objectives.
  • Task Execution:
    • Drive activity to identify and source low cost country suppliers.
    • Liaison to business units and manufacturing plants as assigned.
    • Ensure department and suppliers comply with GSCM policies and procedures.
  • Communication and Reporting:
    • Drive department improvement in BOS metrics (quality, delivery, service and cost).
    • Manage and administer all compensation, performance alignment objectives, individual development plans and training requirements with each direct report.

Required Qualifications Education/ Certification
  • Bachelor’s degree in business or technical discipline; MBA preferred
Work Experience
  • Minimum of 7 – 10 years of experience in Procurement, Strategic Sourcing, Supply Chain Management or related experience
Specialized Skills/Knowledge
  • Ability to travel as required (estimate 10 – 20%).
  • Strong leader of cross-functional teams.
  • Corporate SCM experience with international business required (LCC preferred).
  • Strong ability to analyze financial and technical data and reports.
  • Excellent verbal, written and professional presentation skills.
  • Excellent negotiation skills, and proven success working under pressure driving projects to closure.
  • Familiarity with drawings, specifications, materials and manufacturing processes desired.
