Location:
Monroe, MI
Compensation: $15.00 per hour, plus $1.00 per hour for shift premium
Shift Times:
2nd Shift: Monday-Thursday, 3:30pm-2:00am (possible Friday and Saturday depending on workload)
Position Overview:
The Sanitation Technician will be responsible for maintaining the cleanliness and sanitation of our food packaging and milling facilities. This role involves cleaning and sanitizing equipment, machinery, and work areas to ensure compliance with health and safety regulations. The ideal candidate will have a keen eye for detail, a strong work ethic, and the ability to work independently in a fast-paced environment.
Key Responsibilities:
- Clean and sanitize production equipment, machinery, and work areas according to established protocols.
- Perform routine and deep cleaning tasks in both the food packaging and milling areas.
- Ensure all sanitation procedures comply with company policies and regulatory requirements, including FDA, USDA, and OSHA standards.
- Handle and store cleaning chemicals safely and effectively, following all safety guidelines.
- Inspect and maintain sanitation equipment to ensure it is in good working condition.
- Document all cleaning and sanitation activities accurately and timely.
- Assist in the development and implementation of sanitation procedures and best practices.
- Work closely with production and quality assurance teams to address any sanitation-related issues.
- Participate in internal and external audits and inspections, ensuring readiness and compliance.
- Monitor pest control activities and report any issues to the appropriate personnel.
- Maintain inventory of cleaning supplies and notify management of any needed replenishments.
- Adhere to all company safety policies and procedures, promoting a safe work environment.
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Knowledge of sanitation and hygiene standards in food manufacturing and packaging environments preferred.
- Familiarity with cleaning chemicals and proper handling techniques.
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to maintaining high standards of cleanliness.
- Ability to work independently and manage time effectively.
- Physical ability to perform manual labor, including lifting, bending, and standing for extended periods.
- Good communication and teamwork skills.
- Flexibility to work various shifts, including weekends and holidays, as needed.
- Certification in sanitation or food safety (e.g., Serv Safe) is a plus.
