DIMENSIONS
The Refractory Supervisor/EAF Supervisor is responsible for efficient and continuous production operation by ensuring that materials are delivered on time while keeping inventory cost down.
NATURE & SCOPE
This job is accountable for closely working with other departments and direct resources to ensure overall Melt Shop goals are being met. The Refractory Supervisor/ EAF Supervisor ensures efficient and continuous production operation by ensuring that materials are delivered on time while keeping inventory cost down.
This job reports to the Casting Superintendent and reporting indirectly to the Melting Superintendent. Reporting to the incumbent directly is the Ladle Operator, Refractory A and Refractory
B.
Qualification for this job should include continuous knowledge of refractory materials, applications and refractory system design, and completion of supervisory training requirements.
PRINCIPAL
ACCOUNTABILITIES Contribute to efficient and continuous production operation by ensuring that materials are delivered on time while keeping inventory costs down.Closely work with other departments and direct resources to ensure overall Melt Shop goals are being met.Personally directs the relining of refractory vessels.Recommend and procure refractory materials.Analyze to reduce all downtime attributed to refractory availability.Supervise, instruct and train refractory crews to perform all work assignments properly and safely according to departmental policy.Disposition of all questionable refractory components for hot metal containment.Schedule refractory crews.Maintain inventory and refractory records.Control refractory inventory value to meet divisional working capital objectives.Coordinate maintenance and availability of tundish spraying equipment.Maintain records and coordinate maintenance on Melt Shop Fork Lifts.Responsible for ensuring that the Cardinal Safety Rules are followed.Responsible for utilizing the Business Systems within the Melt Shop.Responsible for working within the EMM processes.Responsible for spill prevention, containment, response and clean up or assist in clean up of spills.Responsible for and completing all required annual safety and environmental training (inc. fugitive dust).Employee is expected to know, understand, and follow all applicable Federal, State, and Local environmental legal requirements and practices.Enforce environmental compliance to procedures, practices and regulations within the department.Ensure environmental compliance with all applicable Federal, State, and Local regulations within the department.The incumbent must be responsible for the safety of all individuals who work under his/her management, seeking continuous improvement related to employee’s health and safety, environment and the process efficiency and customer’s satisfaction with the quality of products and services. All efforts must be directed for preventive actions.
