American Traveler is hiring an experienced Oncology RN with chemotherapy certification (ONS/ONCC) for a day-shift infusion center position requiring an active MI RN license and community hospital experience.
Details- Oncology Chemo Certified unit within an infusion center and outpatient oncology setting
- Cares for both oncology and non-oncology patients receiving chemotherapy and non-chemotherapy infusions
- Adult and geriatric patient population
- Average daily census of 40 with approximately 7 visits per day across 14 rooms
- Staffing ratio of 1:1
- Day shift schedule, 4x10 hours, 7:00 AM to 5:30 PM, Monday through Friday
- Weekend coverage required approximately every six weeks for about two hours
- Uses Pyxis medication system and CADD infusion equipment
- Epic EMR required
- Supported by interpretation services, pharmacy, rapid response team, respiratory services, social services, unit secretary, techs, and charge nurse
- Floating to other units and/or facilities may be required
- Active MI RN license required in hand (pending OH license acceptable)
- Minimum 2 years of RN experience required
- Community hospital experience required
- Teaching hospital, LTAC, and Trauma Level I/II experience preferred
- Previous charge nurse experience preferred
- Prior travel nursing experience required
- BLS and Chemo (ONS/ONCC) certification required; ACLS and OCN preferred
- Epic charting experience required
- Skilled in IV therapy and infusion management including port access, PICC line care, central line care, and blood/blood product administration
- Experience managing oncologic emergencies including ATLS, anaphylaxis, extravasation injury, and sepsis
- Experience with chemotherapy administration, monitoring, and cytotoxic spill management
- Experience caring for patients with a range of cancer diagnoses including breast, lung, colorectal, and hematologic malignancies
- Knowledge of bone marrow transplant care including CAR-T and stem cell therapies
- Skilled in wound care, tracheostomy care, colostomy/ileostomy management, and phlebotomy
- Experience with pain management including IV push narcotics and transdermal patches
- Two professional references from a supervisor within the last 24 months required for consideration
- Provide direct care to oncology patients undergoing chemotherapy and other infusion therapies
- Administer chemotherapy via continuous infusion and IV push, and manage related body fluid and spill precautions
- Monitor for and manage oncologic emergencies and abnormal lab values
- Provide psychosocial support including patient/family education and advanced directive discussions
- Manage symptom control for issues such as nausea, neuropathy, edema, and altered mental status
- Coordinate care with a full support team including pharmacy, social services, and rapid response
- Navy blue scrubs required

- First-time travelers will not be considered for this position
- Returning staff must have a one-year gap since prior permanent employment at the facility
- Must reside outside a 50-mile radius of the facility to be eligible; local candidates not accepted
- Requested time off of 7 or more days requires manager approval, and time off on or around holidays is not permitted
