Job Overview
Transdev in Monroe, Michigan is seeking an experienced Diesel Mechanic III to bolster our team. This position requires the level of knowledge and skills necessary to diagnose and repair commercial vehicles and equipment, as well as the ability to effectively work and communicate with employees and customers. Responsibilities include daily safety inspections, minimal reworks, and maintaining production standards with a focus on timeliness and quality of repairs.

- Diagnose and accurately perform all phases of vehicle repairs
- Remove, clean, repair, reinstall, and adjust vehicle components
- Engine repair and diagnosis; engine emission components
- Driveline components; electrical/electronic components
- Brakes, suspension, steering, exhaust; cab/chassis; hydraulics
- Proficient use of various scan tools
- Ensure work orders are completed properly and accurately, maintaining records of all maintenance work, parts, and supplies used
- Select appropriate course of action for repairs and evaluate completed work prior to release
- Ensure safe use of power and hand‑held tools
- Perform road calls and emergency services as necessary
- Move vehicles safely between job and work area
- Communicate professionally with customers, team members, and supervisors
- Actively participate in safety or educational training as required
- Continuous ASE re‑certification required to remain in job classification
- Must be able to work shifts or flexible work schedules as needed
- Other duties as required
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Minimum of five ASE certifications. New employees must earn three within the first six months and the remaining two within the first year
- Valid driver’s license; CDL preferred or required within 90 days (company‑paid training provided)
- Minimum of three years direct automotive repair experience
- Demonstrated experience monitoring and meeting preventive maintenance schedules, and operating automotive repair shop equipment
- Appropriate mechanic’s tool set
- Excellent communication skills and ability to build relationships with superiors, peers, and subordinates
- Subject to DOT physical exam and DOT drug testing (Schedule I drugs, including marijuana, prohibited)
- Intermittent sitting, standing, stooping, crouching, walking, lifting of light and heavy objects, climbing ladders, stairs, ramps, or scaffolding, and using tools that require a high degree of manual dexterity
- Must be able to sit, stand, walk, use hands for handling, reach, and climb; must be able to lay on a mechanic’s dolly to work underneath equipment
- Regularly lift and/or move up to 50 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move more than 100 pounds
- Must be able to withstand heavy traffic areas while performing duties, tolerate exposure to dust, vehicle fumes, and noise
- Eligible to work in the United States without requiring sponsorship
- Must successfully pass a pre‑employment drug screen
