About the RoleThe Accounts Payable Specialist will support State Utility’saccounting operations with a primary focus on accounts payable, employeeexpense processing, credit card reconciliations, and general accountingsupport. This role will also provide back-up assistance to other accountingstaff as needed.
What You’ll Do- Review,verify, and process vendor invoices for accuracy and proper authorization
- Matchinvoices to purchase orders and resolve discrepancies promptly
- Enterinvoice data into the accounting system for payment processing
- Prepare and process electronic payments (ACH) and checks
- Reconcilevendor statements and communicate with vendors to resolve any outstandingbalances or discrepancies
- Assistin month-end and year-end closing by reconciling accounts payable records
- Reconcilecompany credit card accounts and process payments
- Completedocumentation and research related to credit card chargebacks
- Buildand maintain positive relationships with vendors and internal teams
- Maintainorganized and accurate records of invoices, payments, and correspondence
- Ensure compliance with company policies, financial regulations, and tax requirements (e.g. 1099 reporting)
- Supportaccounting team functions as needed
- Associate degree required; bachelor’s degree preferred
- 3–5years of related accounting experience; construction industry experience preferred
- Strong understanding of accounting principles and practices, particularly in accounts payable management
- Knowledge of accounts payable workflows, tax compliance (1099) and vendor management
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office, including Excel, Word, and Outlook
- Experience with accounting software;
Viewpoint experience preferred - Strongaccuracy, attention to detail, and aptitude for numbers
- Abilityto complete filing, recordkeeping, data entry, and word processing tasks
- Excellent organizational and time management skills
- Abilityto work independently and collaboratively in a team environment
