We are seeking a Senior Cost Analyst to join a growing manufacturing operation in Monroe, NC. This is a highly visible, hands-on position serving as the primary finance resource for the facility and partnering closely with plant leadership, operations, production, and maintenance.
The ideal candidate has experience with cost accounting in a manufacturing environment and a strong understanding of inventory, absorption, variance analysis, and month-end close. This is a full-time, onsite position.
Key Responsibilities:
- Serve as the primary finance and cost accounting resource for the manufacturing facility.
- Perform plant cost analysis, including absorption, labor, volume, spend, and overhead variances.
- Support and drive month-end close, including journal entries, reconciliations, reporting, and financial analysis.
- Monitor inventory transactions and reconcile inventory-related variances.
- Partner with plant and operations leadership to identify cost drivers and opportunities for improvement.
- Support forecasting, annual budgeting, and fixed and variable cost planning.
- Review labor and overhead rates for accuracy and improvement opportunities.
- Generate monthly financial reports and provide meaningful analysis to site and business leadership.
- Track and analyze cost-saving initiatives in partnership with operations.
- Calculate ROI and financial impacts for capital projects and major maintenance expenditures.
- Support cycle counts and lead the site's annual physical inventory process.
- Help improve financial processes, reporting, and controls across the operation.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
- Cost accounting experience within a manufacturing environment.
- Working knowledge of manufacturing cost concepts, including absorption and variance analysis.
- Experience with inventory accounting and/or inventory transactions.
- Experience supporting month-end close and journal entries.
- Experience working with an ERP system in a manufacturing environment; Oracle or SAP experience is a plus.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and organizational skills.
- Ability to work independently and serve as a trusted financial partner to operations.
- Strong communication skills with the ability to explain financial information to non-financial stakeholders.
Preferred Experience:
- Power BI reporting or navigation experience.
- Physical inventory and cycle count experience.
