High School Teacher – Python I Honors & PLTW Cybersecurity
The Python I Honors and PLTW Cybersecurity Teacher is responsible for delivering engaging, rigorous instruction that prepares students for careers in computer science, cybersecurity, and information technology. The teacher creates a hands‑on, project‑based learning environment that emphasizes computational thinking, programming, problem‑solving, cybersecurity principles, and industry‑relevant technical skills while aligning instruction with the North Carolina Standard Course of Study and Project Lead The Way (PLTW) curriculum.
PrimaryJob Responsibilities
- Plan and deliver rigorous instruction in Python I Honors and PLTW Cybersecurity courses using engaging, project‑based learning strategies.
- Teach foundational and advanced programming concepts, including variables, data types, control structures, functions, object‑oriented programming, debugging, and algorithm development using Python.
- Facilitate PLTW Cybersecurity curriculum focused on networking, operating systems, cybersecurity threats, digital forensics, cryptography, ethical hacking, and cyber defense strategies.
- Design authentic, real‑world learning experiences that promote critical thinking, collaboration, creativity, and technical problem‑solving.
- Assess student learning through formative and summative assessments, provide timely feedback, and use data to differentiate instruction and improve student outcomes.
- Maintain a safe, inclusive, and student‑centered classroom environment that encourages innovation, teamwork, and responsible digital citizenship.
- Integrate current industry technologies, programming tools, and cybersecurity platforms into daily instruction to prepare students for college and career pathways.
- Collaborate with Career and Technical Education (CTE) staff, PLTW teachers, school leadership, counselors, and industry partners to support student success and program growth.
- Communicate regularly with students, parents, and stakeholders regarding academic progress, career opportunities, and program expectations.
- Participate in professional development related to computer science, cybersecurity, PLTW curriculum, instructional best practices, and emerging technologies.
- Maintain accurate student records, grades, and required documentation in accordance with district, state, and CTE guidelines.
- Support student participation in technology competitions, cybersecurity events, career and technical student organizations (CTSOs), certifications, internships, and work‑based learning opportunities.
- Strong knowledge of Python programming and computer science fundamentals.
- Understanding of cybersecurity concepts, networking, operating systems, and information security best practices.
- Ability to facilitate project‑based and inquiry‑driven instruction.
- Experience integrating technology into classroom instruction.
- Excellent communication, collaboration, and classroom management skills.
- Commitment to preparing students for postsecondary education, industry certifications, and careers in technology.
