Mechanical Design Engineer – Monroe, NC

We’re now accelerating our roadmap with next‑generation innovations such as Wi‑Fi‑enabled programming and smart access solutions, and we need a Mechanical Design Engineer who can turn complex ideas into real‑world products.

• B.S. in Mechanical Engineering or a related technical discipline.
• 3+ years of product design experience in a manufacturing environment as a design engineer.
• At least 1 year of experience supporting product manufacturing and assembly processes for both existing and new products.
• Proven analytical problem‑solving skills at a functional level.
• Experience using Solid Works 3D CAD for part/assembly design and engineering drawing creation.
• Knowledge of ERP and PDM systems is a plus.
• Familiarity with electro‑mechanical controls/technology is a plus.
• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
• Highly detail‑oriented, organized, results‑oriented, multi‑tasked, team‑player, self‑driven, and capable of setting and achieving personal goals without supervision.
• Ability to work under tight deadlines and in an agile product‑design team.
• Experience with FMEA, DFMA, DFSS and Lean Innovation Principles (Set‑Based Design, Fail Fast, Eliminate Waste, Customer Value Focus, Create Knowledge) is desirable.

• Generate designs and drawings using 3D CAD (Solid Works) and GD&T to meet specification requirements for function, manufacturability and assembly.
• Generate test plans, assemble and install prototypes for testing, and collect data for design improvement and validation.
• Design mechanical dynamic systems, including spring, bevel gear, rack and pinion, spur gear, planetary gearbox, worm gear, clutch, hydraulic flow control, joints, bearings and pressure chambers.
• Design products using manufacturing processes such as injection molding, die casting, investment casting, forging, metal extrusion, gear hobbing, stamping, broaching, CNC milling and lathing, and heat treatment.
• Implement standard engineering practices such as FMEA, DFMA, and DFSS in product design.
• Apply Lean Innovation Principles (Set‑Based Design, Fail Fast, Eliminate Waste, Customer Value Focus, Create Knowledge) throughout the design cycle.
• Collaborate with cross‑functional teams from concept to product launch for dynamic mechanical and electromechanical products.
• Develop product specifications and implementation plans in partnership with cross‑functional teams.
• Participate in design and engineering drawing reviews.
• Provide design support to manufacturing engineers for part machining fixtures, assembly fixtures, product assembly processes, and in‑line testing requirements.
