Salary: $70,000 - $85,000 per year.

Our organization is seeking an experienced, dynamic, and detail-oriented Permanent Sr. Procurement Specialist to join our local government team. This is a fantastic opportunity to contribute to the efficient running of our local government operations by managing the procurement process for goods, services, and contracts. The successful candidate will be responsible for managing complex procurement activities, including drafting and negotiating contracts, managing RFP processes, and ensuring compliance with government regulations.

This key role requires a professional with a strong background in government procurement, a deep understanding of contracts management, and a proven track record in negotiation.

Responsibilities
  • Develop, implement, and manage the procurement strategy for the local government.
  • Manage the entire procurement process, from identifying requirements to managing contracts, ensuring compliance with government regulations and policies.
  • Draft, review, and negotiate contracts with suppliers, ensuring the best value for the local government.
  • Manage the RFP process, including developing RFP documents, evaluating proposals, and negotiating contracts.
  • Build and maintain relationships with suppliers, ensuring high levels of service and quality.
  • Monitor contract performance and manage contract renewals and terminations.
  • Collaborate with various departments to identify their procurement needs and develop appropriate strategies to meet those needs.
  • Provide guidance and support to junior procurement staff, fostering a culture of continuous improvement and professional development.
  • Keep abreast of industry trends and changes in government regulations related to procurement and contracts management.
  • Prepare and present procurement reports to senior management and other stakeholders.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Public Administration, Finance, or a related field.
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in procurement, preferably in a government, county, or state government setting.
  • Proven experience in contract negotiation and contracts management.
  • In-depth knowledge of government contracts and procurement regulations.
  • Strong managerial and leadership skills, with a proven ability to manage and develop a team.
  • Excellent communication and negotiation skills.
  • Strong analytical and problem‑solving skills, with a keen eye for detail.
  • High level of integrity, with the ability to handle sensitive information and make decisions in the best interest of the local government.
  • Proficiency in using procurement software and other related IT systems.
  • Certified Professional Public Buyer (CPPB) or Certified Public Procurement Officer (CPPO) certification is a plus.
