Position: 2nd Shift VT Secondary Winder - Competitive Pay - Benefits!

VT Secondary Winder – Instrument Transformer Equipment Corporation

ITEC is a leader in engineering, designing, and manufacturing critical componentry for electrical substations and the broader grid.

LOCATION

Fully Onsite – 2402 Walkup Ave. Monroe, NC 28110

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Read and interpret winding specification documents to determine characteristics.
  • Verify turn count on all coils for the specific coil to be wound.
  • Determine coil number, quantity, and revision; record the coil number on the coil and on the labor recording paperwork.
  • Determine and install the appropriate mandrel device on the machine; adjust the mandrel, end plates and/or tailstock as required by window size specification.
  • Load conductor and insulating paper into the de‑reeling mechanisms on the machine.
  • Measure materials and make adjustments to the machines to accommodate the material and verify proper alignment.
  • Make adjustments to the machine (flattener, traverse and material tensions) to yield the desired finished coil dimensions as specified.
  • Wind and insulate the coil according to winding instructions.
  • Wind coil sections per winding instructions to the specified number of turns.
  • Braze or bend taps and leads into the coil at specified locations throughout the coil.
  • Perform proper cold weld.
  • Position and insulate leads per winding sheet and diagrams.
  • Splice material per specifications as required.
  • Remove the coil from the mandrel device by hand or hoist it aside to a pallet.
  • Operate a forklift.
  • Load coils in/out of oven.
  • Clock in and out of jobs using Factory Track.
  • Perform secondary winding duties while remaining flexible to be cross‑trained in other areas of manufacturing; overtime may include Saturday or Sunday.
  • Prioritize safety as the first priority.
QUALIFICATIONS & ATTRIBUTES
  • High school diploma/GED required.
  • Minimum of 1 year experience in a manufacturing environment required.
  • Basic computer knowledge, data entry experience, and working knowledge of various equipment and tools.
  • Ability to work in a fast‑paced, high‑speed environment, follow standardized work and adhere to safe work practices in a continuous‑improvement environment.
  • Analytical skills and high‑level attention to detail are required.
  • Ability to work within a team and independently.
  • Operate material handling equipment, including forklifts or other equipment with appropriate training and/or ITEC certification.
  • Physical stamina, strength, and ability to handle heavy equipment required.
  • Must be able to multitask.
WORKING CONDITIONS
  • Must be able to lift 75 lbs as needed throughout the work shift.
  • Position requires the ability to stand for prolonged periods of time.
  • Position may require bending, kneeling, and stooping.
  • Exposed to shop elements such as noise, dust, and odors.
  • May encounter occasional stressful situations.
  • Work may include responding to critical customer‑driven situations which may result in working some weekends, holidays, and after normal business hours.
  • Must know basic math (read a tape measure) and must be able to use computers, as the manufacturing process continues to advance technologically.
  • Assemblers must be able to understand technical manuals, blueprints, and schematics for a wide range of products and machines to properly manufacture the final product.
  • Must have a steady hand and good hand‑eye coordination, as they must grasp, manipulate, or assemble parts and components that are often very small.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and attention to detail.
COMPENSATION

$19.00–$25.00 per hour, paid weekly, based on experience.
