Ati is currently seeking a lab technician (metallographic prep) for our lab department in our monroe, nc facility. Proper preparation is a crucial step in being able to metallographically evaluate material.
The metallographic prep position consists of mounting, grinding, polishing, and etching of samples for evaluation. Qualified candidates must be self-motivated, able to work as a team, understand and follow work instructions, multi-task, and show attention to detail.
this is a night shift position from 6:00 pm to 6:00 am, working on a rotating 2-2-3 schedule. You will work 2 days, have 2 days off, work 3 days; then 2 days off, work 2 days, then have 3 days off. Training will take place on day shift.
additional responsibilities- mount the material by securing the sample in the appropriate mounting material.
- grind the mounted sample to create a flat and even surface
- polish the sample by removing deep scratches
- apply appropriate etching solution to the surface of the sample
- assist in routine laboratory operations and or perform other routine laboratory work as directed. Perform routine mechanical servicing and minor repairs of testing equipment. Maintain work areas in clean, safe, and orderly condition.
- perform a variety of duties to generate high-quality testing data for certification. These duties may include but are not limited to sample preparation, following written procedures, testing, validating, and reporting test results, and recording data into the laboratory information management system (lims)
