Church Profile for Senior Pastor Position Oakland Baptist Church
Monroe, North Carolina
“A Healthy Church with a Heart for the Gospel and a Vision for the Future”
About Our ChurchOakland Baptist Church is a healthy, Christ-centered Southern Baptist congregation located in Monroe, North Carolina. For over half a century, God has faithfully used our church to proclaim the Gospel, make disciples, and serve our community. We are prayerfully seeking the man God has already chosen to become our next Senior Pastor as our current pastor retires at the end of December 2026 after fifteen years of faithful ministry.
We are a congregation that values biblical preaching, genuine fellowship, missions, and serving our neighbors. While our membership is predominantly older adults, God has begun bringing new families, youth, and young adults into our fellowship. We believe He is opening a new chapter in the life of our church, which calls for God’s anointed leader to facilitate.
Our CommunityOakland Baptist Church is strategically located on one of Monroe’s busy thoroughfares with excellent visibility and accessibility.
Our campus sits within minutes of an elementary school, middle school (directly across the road), and high school, providing tremendous opportunities for ministry to children, students, educators, and families. Our ladies’ ministry recently did outreach for the teachers at the middle school.
Across the street, next to the middle school, approximately 140 new condominiums in the upper-$200,000 price range are currently under construction. There are over 500 homes being planned for the area directly behind the church. We view these as some of many opportunities God is placing before us to reach new residents with the Gospel.
Our surrounding community is diverse and continues to grow, with the local population consisting of White, African American, and Hispanic. We desire our church to reflect the love of Christ to every person God places around us. For now, that is through partnering.
Kingdom PartnershipsOne of the unique blessings of Oakland Baptist Church is our commitment to Kingdom cooperation.
Our church shares our campus with two active church plants—one primarily serving the African American community and one primarily serving the Hispanic community, and a faith-based preparatory microschool. We enjoy positive partnerships built on mutual encouragement, cooperation, and a shared commitment to reaching our community for Christ. There are also many ministries and mission groups utilizing our campus throughout the year.
We believe this reflects the biblical picture of believers from every tribe, tongue, people, and nation worshiping together under the lordship of Jesus Christ.
Our Church FamilyOakland Baptist Church is financially stable, doctrinally conservative, and spiritually healthy.
Our congregation enjoys strong unity, faithful volunteers, and a genuine love for one another.
Our people are warm, caring, and eager to welcome new families while honoring the faithful heritage God has given us.
Worship and MinistryOur worship services emphasize Christ-centered music, biblical preaching, prayer, and congregational participation, in a traditional style that incorporates various forms and types of worship elements.
We are committed to:
- Expository, Bible-centered preaching on a whole-campus and whole-period learning model
- Evangelism and missions
- Discipleship for every age
- Meaningful fellowship
- Local and global missions
- Reaching the next generation while caring faithfully for our senior adults
The Senior Pastor serves as the primary spiritual leader of the church and works alongside our experienced and competent full-time church secretary.
As the singular pastoral staff member, the Senior Pastor will provide leadership in preaching, teaching, shepherding, evangelism, administration, and equipping church members for ministry while encouraging shared leadership among deacons, ministry leaders, and volunteers.
The Pastor We Are Trusting God in ProvidingWe are seeking a man who meets the biblical qualifications for a pastor, and understands servant leadership, as found in Matthew 20:25-28, 1 Timothy 3:1–7, Titus…
