Schedule Details/Additional Information: Weekend Night shift (Saturday/Sunday 7p-7a)

Pay Range: $38.20 - $57.30

This position is Sign-On Bonus eligible. Atrium Health Union is a 182‑bed hospital in Monroe, NC, providing comprehensive emergency services and specialty medical care. The campus offers a variety of medical services, including a day surgery center, cancer treatment center, long‑term care facility, behavioral health center, specialty care clinics, community wellness and outreach program, women and children’s center, interventional heart program and physician practices.

Over the past 15‑plus years our hospital has been serving the Monroe area, adding new services and more specialized physicians to meet growing community needs.

Union Emergency Department is a 34‑bed unit with an associated 10‑bed Behavioral Health Holding Unit. We offer services 24 hours a day, providing unscheduled episodic care to patients in need of immediate or urgent medical attention. We work in a fast‑paced environment and deliver the highest quality patient care with a focus on unparalleled patient experience.

Major Responsibilities
  • Engages in unit councils, professional governance, and quality initiatives to improve care processes and apply evidence‑based practices.
  • Utilizes the nursing process to assess, plan, implement, and evaluate care, engaging patients and families from admission to post‑discharge.
  • Monitors patient conditions, adjusts care plans, mobilizes resources, and collaborates with the care team to influence care outcomes.
  • Upholds and promotes a culture of safety.
  • Continuously evaluates patient, team, and unit outcomes, taking action as needed.
  • Administers medications, treatments, and therapies safely and in accordance with clinical protocols and procedures.
  • Demonstrates effective communication, feedback, and conflict resolution, fostering team collaboration and appropriate delegation.
  • Pursues professional development, completes required education, and maintains certifications.
  • Adheres to the ANA Code of Ethics and practices ethical decision‑making, respects interdisciplinary roles, and contributes to integrated, unbiased patient care.
  • Appropriately delegates to other registered nurses, licensed practical nurses, nurse assistants, and other unlicensed assistive personnel.
  • Maintains accurate, timely EHR documentation.
  • May be required to float to other units, departments, or facilities within the designated service area to meet patient care needs.
  • Must demonstrate knowledge and skills necessary to provide care appropriate to the age of patients served, understand principles of growth and development, and assess data reflective of the patient’s status to identify age‑specific needs.
Licensure, Registration, and/or Certification Required
  • Basic Life Support (BLS). Additional education, training, certifications, or experience may be required based on specialty.
  • Active, unrestricted registered nurse (RN) multi‑state compact and/or single‑state license with privileges to practice in the state(s) where the RN is providing client nursing services
    • Note:

      Licensed nurses practicing via telehealth/telenursing/virtual modalities must be licensed or hold the privilege to practice in the state(s) where the client(s) is/are located. Licensed nurses are responsible and accountable for complying with laws, rules, regulations, and standards of practice of the state(s) where the client(s) is/are located.
Education Required
  • Graduate of a Board of Nursing approved nursing education program.
Experience Required
  • No formal RN experience required.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities Required
  • Strong clinical judgment and critical thinking.
  • Time management, prioritization and problem‑solving skills.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work in a fast‑paced, dynamic environment.
  • Proficiency in operating computer functions (e.g., e‑mail, electronic records, digital platforms).
