American Traveler is hiring an RN for a Hospice homecare position requiring 3+ years of hospice experience and a compact/NC RN license.
Requirements- Active RN license (NC or Compact) required
- BLS certification required
- Minimum 3 years of hospice experience required (home or inpatient hospice accepted)
- Valid driver's license, personal vehicle, and car insurance required
- HCHB EMR experience preferred
- Strong critical thinking and autonomous assessment skills required
- Experience with general wound care, Pleurx drains, and opioid/narcotic medication management required
- Last 4 digits of SSN and full DOB required for consideration
- Minimum 1 professional reference dated within the last year from a Supervisor, Manager, Director, or Charge RN
- Provide hospice homecare to patients across Union, Mecklenburg, and Anson counties with a specific area typically assigned upon arrival
- Department census averages 120-130 patients with individual caseloads of 12-15 and about 5 visits per day
- Patient population includes adults, primarily geriatric, with end-of-life diagnoses such as CHF, COPD, respiratory failure, kidney failure, liver failure, neurological conditions (Alzheimer's, dementia), and oncology
- EMR: HCHB (preferred), Symplr
- Uses Pleurx drains, occasional CADD pumps, trunk stock, laptop, and company phone
- Schedule is 12-hour day shifts, Friday-Sunday, 8:30am-8:30pm, totaling 36 hours per week
- Floating limited to patient homes within assigned territory, with possible support to other RNs during low census periods
- No on-call requirements outside of possible 4-hour holiday coverage
- Manage all aspects of the hospice patient experience with autonomy, supported by standing orders that reduce the need for physician calls for routine orders
- Supported by a triage RN for unexpected needs and patient call-ins, plus a charge nurse and admin on-call daily
- Home care aides work independently of RNs
- Orientation includes New Employee Orientation (NEO) plus 1 week of unit-specific orientation
- Holiday coverage includes 4 hours of assigned holiday work, with up to 2 holidays possible per contract depending on time of year
- Navy scrub color required
- Unit culture emphasizes strong teamwork and cohesiveness
- First-time travelers are welcome to apply
- Candidates must reside outside a 50-mile radius of the facility to be eligible
- Returning employees must be separated from any AHSE facility for at least 1 year following a permanent position
