General Function
The Apprentice Optician creates exceptional value by delivering the Lens Crafters Experience and ensuring customers are delighted throughout our selling process.
Major Duties and Responsibilities- Conveys a commitment to providing unsurpassed Customer Service by performing the following Sales and Service Process steps:
- Greeting the Customer
- Explaining the Process transparently
- Merchandise Selection
- Fitting – Accu Fit
- Solve visual problems or challenges
- Tendering
- Dispensing
- Serves as a center of excellence for others with a focus on Right the First Time and modeling our CEE service and selling model.
- Assists the customer in selecting frames and lenses that are best suited for their vision, lifestyle and budget, and recommends solutions.
- Anticipates problems, explores causes, and develops long‑term solutions.
- Shows patience and courtesy, tracks down answers to unfamiliar questions.
- Educates the customer on Lens Crafters guarantees and services (Eyewear Protection Plan, care tips, adjustments, follow‑up).
- Handles tasks such as taking and recording measurements, adjusting or fitting eyewear correctly, ensuring optical standards.
- Strives to achieve “Exceptional Results” on annual CEI/Functional Skills.
- Owns personal and store results.
- Acts as role model and technical resource.
- Operates the Point of Sale terminal with accuracy.
- Collects payments following security procedures.
- Explains “One Hour” processing and delivery times.
- Directs customers to pick‑up location.
- Maintains store appearance and displays per planograms.
- Maintains safe working environment.
- Demonstrates safe work practices, including wearing PPE in the lab.
- High school graduate or equivalent.
- Part of a sanctioned Apprentice Program.
- Strong customer service skills: communicator, listener and team builder.
- Knowledge of optical theory and merchandise.
- Knowledge of current store merchandise.
- Strong basic math skills.
- Awareness of fashion trends.
- Sales and service skills.
- Familiarity with POS, computers and calculators.
- Embrace new technology and change.
- Actively studying for Lens Crafters Quality, Fitting and Adjusting Program.
- Optical dispensing experience.
- Previous customer service and retail experience.
Employee pay is determined by multiple factors, including geography, experience, qualifications, skills and local minimum wage requirements.
