* The Teaching Fellow must be enrolled and maintain enrollment in good standing in a university-based teacher preparation program.

* Screening of applications will begin January 30,2026.

TITLE Teaching Fellow
REPORTS TO Building Principal
POSITION SUMMARY
Under the guidance of a mentor teacher, the Teaching Fellow provides individual and group instruction to MLL-qualified students in their native language using standards and assessments to plan for instruction. The Teaching Fellow must be enrolled and maintain enrollment in good standing in a university-based teacher preparation program.
QUALIFICATIONS
Required
* Hold an AA degree or otherwise meet the educational requirements for entrance into a university-based teacher preparation program
Preferred
* Demonstrate bi-literate competencies in oral and written English and another language identified by the District on a language proficiency exam
* One year of paid or volunteer experience working with multi-age groups of children
Special Requirements
* Candidates must also meet the following requirements:
* First Aid, CPR, and AED certification
* Successful Washington State Patrol and Federal Bureau of Investigation fingerprint clearance
* I-9 employment eligibility in compliance with the Immigration Reform and Control Act
* HIV/HBV training (obtain within 60 days of hire date - District provided)
* Human Resources new hire training (obtain within 60 days of hire date - District provided)
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
Knowledge of:
* Principles and practices of English language development
* Federal regulations governing ELL
* Standards-based instruction and familiarity with Washington State Essential Academic Learning Requirements
* Basic concepts of child growth, development, and developmental behavior characteristics pertaining to students in grades pre-school through age 21, including students with special learning needs and English language needs
* Student behavior management strategies and techniques
* Appropriate English usage, punctuation, spelling, and grammar
* Basic arithmetical concepts
* Routine record management, storage, and retrieval systems and procedures
Ability to:
* Communicate effectively in oral and written form in English
* Demonstrate an empathetic, patient, and receptive attitude toward students of varied ages, abilities, and cultural backgrounds
* Perform routine clerical tasks and operate a variety of educational and office-related machines and equipment
* Learn to utilize a variety of appropriate instructional materials and procedures in the enhancement of a positive educational environment
