TITLE: Dual Language Classroom Teacher
REPORTS TO: Building Principal
Position SummaryThe classroom teacher, under the direction of the Building Principal, will create a program and class environment favorable to the learning and personal growth of students which facilitates student success in academic and interpersonal skills through implementing district-approved curriculum; motivate students to develop skills, attitudes, and knowledge needed to provide a good foundation in life and establish good relationships and rapport with students, parents, and staff members.
The teacher will document student progress, activities, and outcomes; address specific educational needs of students; and provide feedback to students, parents, and administration regarding student progress, expectations, and goals. The teacher will maintain professional competence through in-service education, coursework, and professional growth activities.
Education and Experience:
- Valid teaching certificate for the State of Washington with required endorsement in the area of assignment
- Dual Language in English and Spanish
- Pass the ACTFL writing and oral proficiency test and the State Test in designated world language (world language endorsement) or WEST‑E in bilingual education (bilingual education endorsement)
- Prior experience in the school setting preferred
- Other qualifications as the Board and Superintendent may find appropriate
- Current valid CPR and First Aid may be required for the specific assignment
- Successful Washington State Patrol and Federal Bureau of Investigation fingerprint clearance
- I‑9 employment eligibility in compliance with the Immigration Reform and Control Act
- HIV/HBV training (obtain within 60 days of hire date – District provided)
- Human Resources new hire training (obtain within 60 days of hire date – District provided)
- Principles, goals, and objectives of public education
- Curriculum and other developmental programs
- Abide by all district policies and procedures along with building/department practices
- Adhere to federal and state laws and district regulations, policies, procedures, and practices
- Mandatory reporter for incidents of child abuse, harassment, intimidation, bullying, fights, substance abuse, etc.
- Abides by employment provisions provided for in the collective bargaining agreement
- Observe strict confidentiality regarding student information
- Maintain regular punctual attendance
