OCCUPATIONAL THERAPIST
BASIC FUNCTIONS:
Plan, conduct and evaluate an educational therapy program for all assigned students.
PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:
1. Diagnose and prescribe and implement an instructional and activity program to meet each student's
aptitude, interest, level of achievement, instructional and motor development needs.
2. Conduct parent and/or parent-student conferences to interpret students' educational,
social/behavioral and physical development and interpret program rationale.
3. Develop an Individualized Education Program for each identified child.
REQUIRED SKILLS:
1. Ability to work cooperatively with staff, administration and support personnel in a team approach to
solving individual learning problems.
2. Ability to access a child using both standardized and clinical assessment techniques.
PRIMARY
QUALIFICATIONS:
1. Must possess or be eligible for Washington State Education Staff Associate Certificate as an
Occupational Therapist.
2. Ability to work cooperatively and successfully with all students, staff, parents and community.
3. Valid Washington State driver's license; must provide automobile for on-the-job use.
4. Bachelor of Science in Occupational Therapy.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
This is a sedentary position with light work that involves sitting a portion of the time, but does require
walking and standing for extended periods. This position requires accurate perception of sound, near
and far vision, depth perception; handling and working with educational and psychological materials;
and providing highly technical oral and written information and reports.

The Occupational Therapist works under the direction of the Director of Student Services and/or the
Building Administrator. The Occupational Therapist maintains continuous contact with various staff
members to insure close coordination and communication necessary for successfully accomplishing the
objectives of the occupational therapy program within the total educational process. They also maintain
contact with parents, parent-teacher associations, professional associations and other community
organizations in order to promote understanding and goodwill toward the objectives of the occupational
therapy program in the Monroe School District.
SALARY AND BENEFITS:
Salary is based on the approved District salary schedule for the BASE and local TRI pay. Placement on
the salary schedule is based on experience, degrees and post baccalaureate college credits, per the
State Salary Schedule. Salary is adjusted for less than full time equivalent (1.0 FTE). Current benefits
include: health, dental, vision, long-term disability and life insurance.
EMPLOYMENT
CONDITIONS:
This position is that of dean of students and is represented by the MEA collective bargaining unit. The
position of dean of students will work a schedule in coordination with the District student calendar.
Salary and benefits as determined by the current collective bargaining agreement. Both day/evening
and week day/weekend hours are required.
