- This is a non-continuing, one-year position. Pay is prorated based on actual fte worked. Pay range is for 2025-26; 2026-27 pay rates pending board approval. Wednesdays and Fridays 10:00-Noon plus 8 full day (7 hour) training days.

TITLE Classroom Teacher - SVEC
REPORTS TO Building Principal
POSITION SUMMARY The classroom teacher, under the direction of the Building Principal, will create a program and class environment favorable to learning and personal growth of students which facilitates student success in academic and interpersonal skills through implementing district-approved curriculum; motivate students to develop skills, attitudes, and knowledge needed to provide a good foundation in life, and establish good relationships and rapport with students, parents and staff members.
The teacher will document student progress, activities and outcomes; address specific educational needs of students; and provide feedback to students, parents and administration regarding student progress, expectations, and goals. The teacher will maintain professional competence through in-service education, coursework and professional growth activities.
Education and Experience
- Valid teaching certificate for the State of Washington with required endorsement.
- Multiple Endorsements preferred.
- Experience in teaching in an alternative school, preferably a parent partnership program.
- Prior experience in the school setting preferred.
- Ability to communicate effectively with students, parents and staff.
- Ability to work with minimum direction, but work as an effective member of a team.
- Current valid CPR and First Aid may be required for the specific assignment.
- Experience with Homeschooling.
- Successful Washington State Patrol and Federal Bureau of Investigation fingerprint clearance.
- I-9 employment eligibility in compliance with the Immigrations Reform and Control Act.
- HIV/HBV training (obtain within 60 days of hire date – District provided).
- Human Resources new hire training (obtain within 60 days of hire date – District provided).
- Principles, goals and objectives of public education.
