TITLE: Classroom Teacher - SVEC

REPORTS TO: Building Principal

POSITION SUMMARY: The classroom teacher, under the direction of the Building Principal, will create a program and class environment favorable to learning and personal growth of students which facilitates student success in academic and interpersonal skills through implementing district-approved curriculum; motivate students to develop skills, attitudes, and knowledge needed to provide a good foundation in life, and establish good relationships and rapport with students, parents and staff members.

The teacher will document student progress, activities and outcomes; address specific educational needs of students; and provide feedback to students, parents and administration regarding student progress, expectations, and goals. The teacher will maintain professional competence through in-service education, coursework and professional growth activities.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

• Valid teaching certificate for the State of Washington with required endorsement.
• Multiple Endorsements preferred.
• Science endorsement preferred.
• Experience with re‑engaging disconnected adolescents.
• Experience in teaching in an alternative school, preferably a parent partnership program.
• Homeschool experience preferred.
• Ability to communicate effectively with students, parents and staff.
• Ability to work with minimum direction, but work as an effective member of a team.
• Current valid CPR and First Aid may be required for the specific assignment
• Experience with Homeschooling

Special Requirements:

• Successful Washington State Patrol and Federal Bureau of Investigation fingerprint clearance
• I‑9 employment eligibility in compliance with the Immigration Reform and Control Act
• HIV/HBV training (obtain within 60 days of hire date – District provided)
• Human Resources new hire training (obtain within 60 days of hire date – District provided)
