  • This is a four day per week job that spans all grades, K-12, but primarily K-8, so a K-8 endorsement is preferred.
  • ALE and/or homeschooling experience is preferred.
  • Classes include: Video Game Design, Cake Decorating, Chess, Escape Room, Anime History and Art, Hair and Makeup, and Face Painting. (Experience teaching these subjects preferred.)
  • Salary listed is for 2025-26; 2026-27 salaries pending school board approval. Pay is prorated based on actual fte worked.

TITLE: Classroom Teacher - SVEC

REPORTS TO: Building Principal

The classroom teacher, under the direction of the Building Principal, will create a program and class environment favorable to learning and personal growth of students which facilitates student success in academic and interpersonal skills through implementing district-approved curriculum; motivate students to develop skills, attitudes, and knowledge needed to provide a good foundation in life, and establish good relationships and rapport with students, parents and staff members.

The teacher will document student progress, activities and outcomes; address specific educational needs of students; and provide feedback to students, parents and administration regarding student progress, expectations, and goals. The teacher will maintain professional competence through in-service education, coursework and professional growth activities.

Education and Experience:

• Valid teaching certificate for the State of Washington with required endorsement.
• Multiple Endorsements preferred.
• Experience in teaching in an alternative school, preferably a parent partnership program.
• Prior experience in the school setting preferred.
• Ability to communicate effectively with students, parents and staff.
• Ability to work with minimum direction, but work as an effective member of a team.
• Current valid CPR and First Aid may be required for the specific assignment.
• Experience with Homeschooling.

• Successful Washington State Patrol and Federal Bureau of Investigation fingerprint clearance.
• I-9 employment eligibility in compliance with the Immigrations Reform and Control Act.
• HIV/HBV training (obtain within 60 days of hire date – District provided).
• Human Resources new hire training (obtain within 60 days of hire date – District provided).
