Hospice Aide CNA Hospice of Southern Illinois is a not-for-profit, free-standing, community-based hospice serving Southern Illinois and St. Louis Metro-East. Since 1981 we have provided compassionate end-of-life care in home or home-like settings. A career in hospice care is a calling for us, and we are currently hiring for the Hospice Aide CNA position based in Belleville, IL.
Hospice Aide CNA Position Summary- Summary
:
The Hospice Aide provides direct patient care under the direction of the Clinical Services Manager or designee and supervision by a Registered Nurse. Assists in managing patient/family needs, adheres to policy, and supports HSI’s financial objectives. - Pay
: $20.28 hourly. Full-Time Non-Exempt, 40 hours weekly - Schedule
:
Monday–Friday 8:30 AM–5:00 PM. May include a rotational Saturday shift averaging every 7th Saturday. - Location
:
Belleville Patient Services Office. Travel within the Belleville service area (St. Clair, Monroe, Washington, Randolph counties). - We visit patients in homes, long-term care facilities, nursing homes, hospitals, etc. A valid driver’s license, current automobile insurance, and reliable transportation are required. The company reimburses $0.67 per mile for driving personal vehicles.

A.) Education
- High school graduate or GED.
- Successful completion of Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) course and current Illinois Certification.
B.) Experience
- Two (2) years of CNA experience in hospital, long-term care, or home health setting required.
- One (1) year of hospice/home health experience preferred.
C.) Other Qualifications
- Excellent organizational and interpersonal relationship skills.
- Reliable transportation.
- Physical Requirements
:
Performs repetitive tasks. Ability to bathe, transfer, lift, and turn patients; may require lifting up to 100 lbs occasionally and up to 50 lbs frequently. Requires flexibility to bend, squat, and move. Vision and hearing adequate for task performance. - Working Conditions
:
Approximately 10% in a climate-controlled environment; 90% in automobile or patient home environments. Potential exposure to malodorous environments, infectious body fluids, allergens, cleaning agents, and communicable diseases.
- Adhere to policies and procedures in compliance with state and federal regulations.
- Observe and report changes in patient status to the nurse and IDT in a timely manner.
- Demonstrate basic clinical skills (blood pressure, temperature, pulse, respiration) and safe techniques for bathing, transferring, lifting, turning, and grooming.
- Communicate clinical information clearly to patients, caregivers, and hospice staff.
- Follow infection control procedures and reinforce patient/family education.
- Complete 12 hours of in-service training per 12-month period and finish required education on time.
- Maintain a clean, safe, and healthy environment for patients; collaborate with internal and external staff.
- Recognize emergencies and follow appropriate procedures; adhere to the patient’s plan of care.
- Notify Nurse/Case Manager of changes to ensure plan of care accuracy; escalate conflicts as needed.
- Work cooperatively in a team; attend required staff meetings; provide compassionate care aligned with patient and family needs.
- Demonstrate flexibility, initiative, and commitment; manage time and tasks efficiently with minimal supervision.
- Identify and report safety risks promptly; uphold the organization’s core values.
- Complete timesheets accurately and manage paid time off per policy.
- Other duties as assigned.
