Position Summary
Full‑time Mental Health Therapist for the Behavioral Health Program located in Monroe, WA. The therapist provides assessments, referrals for psychiatric services, case management, individual counseling, crisis stabilization, suicide risk assessment, treatment planning, and group therapy. The position utilizes a patient registry to track goals and outcomes, and incorporates pay‑for‑performance mechanisms to support model fidelity and prioritize patient outcomes.
Duties and Responsibilities- Assist in ensuring agency compliance with WACs, RCWs, and related regulations.
- Help develop and implement policies and procedures as directed by the Program Manager.
- Educate staff on referral processes and psycho‑educational topics such as suicide risk assessment.
- Maintain accurate documentation of mental health services and follow‑through in patient charts.
- Conduct diagnostic assessments and document outcomes, diagnoses, and recommendations.
- Demonstrate competence in providing age‑appropriate care and applying developmental principles.
- Identify and categorize patients’ age‑specific needs (infant, adolescent, geriatric).
- Refer patients to psychiatric services and coordinate with providers to monitor medication effects and side‑effects.
- Consult staff on mental health and behavioral issues, developing treatment plans to address patient needs.
- Provide individual counseling in coordination with the system as necessary.
- Perform suicide risk assessment and develop appropriate treatment plans; use case management for follow‑through and community support.
- Gather information on prior mental health services for treatment planning.
- Provide referrals and coordinate information exchange with external service providers.
- Support staff regarding mental health needs, maintaining confidentiality and offering strategies for difficult situations.
- Complete at least 80 hours of face‑to‑face contact and 80 encounters each month.
- Master’s degree in psychology or social work from an accredited institution, including coursework in psychological diagnostics.
- Qualified as a Mental Health Professional (MHP) in accordance with state regulations.
- Good oral and written communication skills.
- Experience with the MHIP model of care, patient registries, and collaborative care.
- Four or more years of relevant clinical experience.
- Active Washington State Agency‑Affiliated Counselor License (can be pending for up to 60 days if applied for within 7 days of offer) or an Associate License (Marriage and Family Therapist, Mental Health Counselor, Clinical Social Worker).
- Bilingual English/Spanish preferred but not required.
