This recruitment is open to current permanent DOC employees only.
The candidate of choice must work from the facility daily. This position is not telework eligible.
The Washington State Department of Corrections is seeking a safety and construction minded individual to join the Monroe Correctional Complex (MCC) Capital Planning team as a Facilities Planner 2(FP2)! The goal of a Facilities Planner 2 is to support public works projects that maintain and improve the facilities where staff work and individuals live.
As a Facilities Planner 2, your expertise will help ensure projects are completed safely, efficiently, and to the highest standards while supporting the Department of Corrections’ mission to enhance community safety, reduce victimization, and hold incarcerated individuals accountable through effective correctional programs and services. The candidate of choice will provide on-site construction administration, inspections, and quality assurance services for projects s position serves as the agency’s on-site representative for public works projects and acts as the secondary construction administrator in support of Capital Planning & Development.
The FP2 manages multiple concurrent projects across various phases of construction, coordinating with project teams, contractors, and stakeholders to monitor progress, resolve issues, and ensure projects meet established plans, specifications, schedules, and quality standards. This position requires strong communication, organization, attention to detail, and the ability to effectively manage competing priorities in a complex operational environment.

As a Facilities Planner 2, some of your duties will include:
- Onsite Public Works project representative for Capital Planning and Development at the Monroe Correctional Complex which could look like:
- Assisting in all phases of public works projects that involve modification and expansion of facility structures at MCC.
- On-Site project representation to include collaborating closely with the capital project manager and acting as the on-site representative for construction and maintenance projects
- Providing facility planning and program development assistance in accordance with Capital Asset plan
- Scheduling projects and efficiently coordinating project schedules, ensuring projects adherence to timelines and scope of work
- Providing valuable insight and recommendations for the project manager, department, or facility management
- Reviewing and organizing project documents and record to include:
- Maintaining accurate daily logs, safety compliance records, and other essential documentation
- Ensuring staff and incarcerated individuals adhere to prescribed safety procedures, policies,O&M's, including tool and key accountability policies
- Collaborating with the capital project manager to oversee project progress and address specific facility requirements
- Preparing technical reports and graphic illustrations
- Managing material orders and track their delivery for the project
- Conducting training sessions on tools and equipment as required and oversee the maintenance of construction tools
- Performing other duties as required
What we need (required qualifications):
- Bachelor's degree in business or public administration, engineering, architecture, planning, or closely allied field from an accredited college or university whose accreditation is recognized by the U.S. Department of Education and the Council for Higher Education Accreditation (CHEA), or foreign equivalent

- Three (3) years' experience in governmental facilities planning/operations work or in related fields in private industry which would afford with large scale facilities development…
