- On Call (Rn2) Monroe Correctional Complex (Mcc)

Doc is seeking a highly motivated and qualified Registered Nurse On-Call (Rn) for the Monroe Correctional Complex located in Monroe, just outside the Seattle area in Washington. Monroe Correctional Complex is one of our larger facilities handling a patient population with many diverse health care needs. Monroe Correctional Complex is our only facility that takes care of dialysis patients in house.

26 beds in patient unit Treatment of chronic disease such as hep c, diabetes, hypertension, cancer, alzheimer dementia and copd The outpatient clinic sees 15-20 patients per day Correctional health is a rewarding career path at doc, in which health care professionals treat a wide array of cases for patients residing in a state correctional facility. Health services is responsible for basic primary care for incarcerated individuals.

All disciplines within all of the 12 correctional facilities work closely together to reach a common goal, providing the best, most efficient, and cost-effective health care possible. Emphasis is placed on early identification of health concerns, care for acute and chronic health problems, and preventive care. Registered nurses will receive shift differential in the amount of two dollars and fifty cents ($2.50) per hour for evening shift and night shift work.

Employees may also qualify for one or both of these supplemental shift premiums in addition to the above.

A. One dollar ($1.00) per hour during any hours assigned to work from 11:00 p.m. until 7:00 a.m.

B. Three dollars ($3.00) per hour during any hours worked from friday midnight to sunday midnight. On-call nurses must:
Be available to work all shifts (day, swing and graveyard) including weekends and holidays. To qualify for benefits upon hire, you must be willing to work 10 shifts a month. Provide written availability by the 10th of each month for the following month's coverage. Be willing to complete a paid three-week correctional worker core training m-f from 8 to 4:30 pm.

Duties

Duties include:

  • Practice nursing safely and effectively in the correctional setting and within the scope of practice defined by state law and administrative code.
  • Delegate and assign tasks to other staff as appropriate
  • Communicate effectively verbally, in writing, and via computer or other electronic media with incarcerated individuals, their families, other health care personnel, custody, and other institutional personnel.
  • Provide competent nursing services
  • Establish therapeutic relationships that preserve professional boundaries with patients.
  • Actively participate in the correctional healthcare team
  • Respond to health care emergencies throughout the facility and institution grounds.
  • Always self-evaluate and practice professional nursing conduct.
  • Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications

Initial and continuous unencumbered licensure in the state of washington as a registered nurse or an unencumbered multi-state license from a participating compact licensure state and completion of the msl demographic survey. And one year experience working as a registered nurse. Training by the american heart association in healthcare provider cpr. Proficient using computer-based programs to schedule, monitor and track patient information, perform data entry and word processing, and communicate via email, as well as other programs that may be needed to complete assigned work.

Ability to work independently and with limited supervision.
