Overview

GENERAL INTRODUCTION:
Each position employed with CYO Camps helps to extend the ministry of the Archbishop in particular ways as outlined in the position description.

GENERAL SUMMARY OF ESSENTIAL

PURPOSE:

Implement the Head Cook’s food service program;
Clean and maintain kitchen and Discovery Lodge, help clean camp as assigned by Seasonal Director and Assistant Director.

Responsibilities
  • Implement an outlined food program as directed by the Head Cook.
  • Give directions to staff temporarily helping in the kitchen.
  • Follow the approved menu plan provided by the Head Cook.
  • Function as general all around cook and dishwasher for all meals and special events.
  • Prepare and serve tasty meals and snacks based on the provided menu in sufficient quantity, minimizing waste.
  • Operate electrical and mechanical equipment safely.
  • Clean dishes, food contact surfaces, kitchen, and Discovery Lodge according to local health department guidelines.
  • Participate in the cleaning and upkeep of the camp facility overall as directed by the Seasonal Director.
  • Report all concerns and problems to the Seasonal Head Cook.
  • Qualifications

    ESSENTIAL

    QUALIFICATIONS:

    Primary:

    • A good example for youth.

    Experience:

    • Preferred previous experience in the food industry.

    Other Elements:

    • Commitment to the mission and values of CYO.
    • Ability to work under pressure in time constraints.
    • Must be able to lift/unload/move food and supplies.
    • Willingness to pitch in with other general camp duties when needed, like moving luggage, and cleaning areas other than the kitchen and dining hall.
    • Current CPR/First Aid and Food Handlers required or willingness to obtain prior to camp season.
    • Must be at least 18 years of age.

    Any offered salary is determined based on internal equity, internal salary ranges, market data, applicant’s skills and prior relevant experience, certain degrees and certifications.
