The Department of Corrections is seeking a highly motivated and qualified individual(s) for the position of Electronics Technician 4 (ET4) at the Monroe Correctional Complex in Monroe, WA.

The Monroe Correctional Complex (MCC) is a 1400 bed male all-custody level facility located 30 miles northeast of Seattle.  Employing approximately 1200 staff, the complex consists of five major units; the Washington State Reformatory Unit (WSRU), Sky River Treatment Center (SRTC), a large mental health in patient treatment unit, Twin Rivers Unit (TRU), Intensive Management Unit (IMU), and the Minimum Security Unit (MSU).  

Services provided at the Monroe Correctional Complex include; custody and security, classification, education, Incarcerated Individual work programs, health care (both patient and outpatient), mental health care, sex offender treatment, food service, maintenance, personnel, recreation, volunteer services, religious services, library services, Incarcerated Individual records, visiting and extended family visits.

The Electronics Technician 4 (ET4) reports to a Maintenance Specialist 4 s position operates, maintains, troubleshoots and repairs electronic systems and controls in support of correctional/custody facilities and operations.

The Department of Corrections in collaboration with its criminal justice partners, victims, citizens, and other stakeholders will enhance community safety, reduce victimization, and hold offenders accountable through the administration of criminal sanctions and effective correctional programs.

The ET4 supports this mission by installing, maintaining, repairing, and testing electronic systems used in communication, alarm, video monitoring/recording and security locking. The ET4 supervises offenders and instructs personnel in the proper operation and maintenance of electronic systems and equipment at the Monroe Correctional Complex.

Duties include but are not limited to:

* Serve as lead technician and perform work in layout, installation, of computer, electronic and control equipment.

* Administer, test, troubleshoot, maintain, repair Local Area Networks, hardware, software, and equipment that operate prison security and/or communications systems.

* Test, troubleshoot, maintain, repair analog, and/or digital electronic equipment used in 24/7 security and alarm surveillance.

* Diagnose, analyze and repair failures on security networks, servers, computers; IP addressing, installed hardware/ operating systems/software. Set up and configure network systems using current security features.

* Install, maintain, troubleshoot, and repair networked door control systems including touchscreen interface, PC workstations, servers, cabling, electric cell locks, switches, relays, PLC's, control transfer systems and fire alarm systems.

* Install, maintain, troubleshoot and repair networked security video systems including: cameras, TV/monitors, workstations, servers, encoders, cabling. Diagnose and repair software, licensing, and network communication issues.

* Perform skilled technical work on mobile radio systems including the 800 MHz trunked communications system, digital radios, supporting computer systems and networks. Utilize computer software and electronic test equipment, perform system diagnostics to troubleshoot and resolve problems. Program handheld and vehicle mounted radios. Maintain current record of radios, numbers, programming, audio recording.

* Maintain, troubleshoot and repair perimeter shaker fences and microwave fence intrusion detectors, public address systems, battery backup (UPS) systems, fire alarm panels, intercom systems.

* Install, conduct frequent inspections to maintain, troubleshoot and repair electronic equipment to component level.

* Monitor, maintain, troubleshoot and repair CATV television distribution system and equipment.

* Install, troubleshoot and maintain network, coaxial, twisted pair or fiber-optic cabling and raceway or conduit.

* Interface with appropriate staff to accomplish assigned tasks.  

* Review plans/specs, schematics, technical manuals and as-built drawings.
