CAD Designer

Job Summary:Responsible for creating, modifying, and maintaining electrical and automation design drawings using modern CAD platforms. Works collaboratively with engineers, designers, and technicians to produce accurate, standards-compliant documentation that supports manufacturing, installation, and customer deliverables. This role is evolving to support digital design integration, data consistency, and automation-driven workflows.

Responsibilities
  • Create and modify electrical schematics, panel layouts, and wiring diagrams using AutoCAD Electrical
  • Maintain drawing accuracy, revision control, and adherence to standards
  • Collaborate with engineers and technicians for design clarity
  • Participate in design reviews and continuous improvement
  • Support standardized templates and design automation tools
  • Assist with panel shop assembly and field verification
  • Improve workflows through automation and process optimization
  • Maintain organized documentation and version control
  • Perform other duties as assigned
Required Qualifications
  • High school diploma or GED
  • Associate or Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience
  • Proficiency in AutoCAD Electrical or similar software
  • Ability to interpret electrical schematics
  • Microsoft Office proficiency
  • Strong attention to detail
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks
  • Strong communication and teamwork skills
  • Basic understanding of automation systems
Preferred Qualifications
  • Knowledge of NEC, UL, NFPA standards
  • Experience with PLC systems and automation
  • Experience with CAD customization and standardization
  • Understanding of industrial networks and panel layouts
  • Experience with fabrication or installation support
  • Knowledge of revision control best practices
  • Exposure to design automation tools/macros
Physical Requirements
  • Ability to sit for extended periods
  • Occasional shop environment activity
