Paid-On-Call Firefighter

The City of Monroe is currently accepting applications for the position of Paid-On-Call Firefighter. This is an excellent opportunity to serve your community in a meaningful way while gaining valuable training and experience.

The position is located at Fire Station #1, 601 W. 17th Street, Monroe, WI.

The salary is $15.00 hourly and the job is a volunteer position.

The job number is 202601 and the department is the Fire Department. The opening date is 05/27/2026 and the closing date is 7/19/2026 at 11:59 PM Central Time (US & Canada).

• Respond to 3–5 emergency calls per week
• Attend required training (2 Tuesday nights/month)
• Maintenance Crew (2 Thursday nights/month)
• Participate in firefighting, rescue, and emergency medical operations
• Maintain readiness of equipment, vehicles, and facilities
• Engage in community fire prevention and public education efforts

Minimum Qualifications:

• Age 18 or older
• High school diploma or GED
• Valid driver's license and clean driving record
• Physically capable of lifting and/or moving up to 100lbs
• Able to complete:
• Wisconsin Firefighter I certification within 18 months
• Emergency Medical Responder (EMR) certification within 18 months
• CPR certification within 12 months
