Summary

The Production Team Member performs a variety of essential tasks to assist with production in a food manufacturing environment. Responsibilities include activities such as forming cheese, flipping cheese, brining cheese, completing quality checks and participating in the sanitation of production equipment.

Duties and Responsibilities
  • Assist in the operation of machinery and equipment used in the cheese making process to ensure smooth operation and efficient production.
  • Work closely with other production associates and team members to ensure efficient workflow to meet production targets.
  • Load and unload raw materials and cheese using food manufacturing equipment including hoists and conveyor systems.
  • Safely and efficiently move products and materials within the facility, following proper handling procedures. This may involve using electric pallet jacks, hand trucks, or other equipment to transport goods.
  • Ensure all equipment and materials are set up and readily available for production activities.
  • Observe and monitor production lines to ensure the smooth flow of operations.
  • Conduct regular quality checks and complete quality documentation to ensure compliance with specification and standards.
  • Ensure accurate labeling and adherence to Affinage guidelines.
  • Clean and maintain equipment, tools, and work areas following proper sanitation and cleaning procedures to maintain a clean and safe work environment.
  • Adhere to ERU food safety policies and all government food safety and sanitation regulations (e.g., FDA, HACCP, GMP, OSHA).
  • Adhere to safety guidelines and comply with all safety protocols, including the proper use of personal protective equipment (PPE).
  • Attend safety and department meetings and complete all required training in a timely manner.
  • Identify and report potential safety hazards to ensure a safe working environment.
  • Perform all other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
  • Previous experience working in a cheese making or food manufacturing environment is preferred but not required.
  • Ability to safely operate electric pallet jacks.
  • Ability to read and interpret work instructions.
  • Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide whole numbers.
  • Attention to detail and commitment to producing high‑quality products.
  • Physical stamina to perform physically demanding tasks, including lifting heavy objects and standing for extended periods of time.
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision and as part of a team.
  • Ability to work in a fast‑paced environment and adaptable to change.
  • Ability to work overtime or extend shifts as needed.
Physical Requirements
  • Constantly use hands and fingers to handle or feel objects and controls.
  • Frequently required to walk, bend, and reach with hands and arms.
  • Constantly required to talk and hear.
  • Constantly sitting for long hours.
  • Constantly lift and/or move up to 10 pounds.
  • Occasionally lift and/or move up to 30 pounds.
  • Occasionally lift and/or move up to 60 pounds.
  • Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus naturally or with correction.
Work environment
  • Work is typically performed in a production plant environment.
  • Occasionally exposed to a moderate level of noise that may make it difficult to concentrate.
  • Occasionally exposed to wet, humid with slippery conditions, hot and cold environment.
  • Frequently traveling to manufacturing sites (50% travel day travel to sites).
