Job Responsibilities - Chronic Dialysis RN
  • Deliver direct patient care for individuals undergoing outpatient or chronic dialysis treatment.
  • Monitor and assess patients' conditions before, during, and after dialysis treatment, including vital signs and therapeutic responses.
  • Administer prescribed dialysis treatments, medications, and fluid therapy following physician orders.
  • Educate patients and their families on dialysis procedures, medications, and dietary guidelines.
  • Effectively operate and maintain dialysis equipment, ensuring proper setup, functionality, and sterilization.
  • Collaborate with nephrologists, dietitians, and social workers to create and implement individualized care plans for patients.
  • Accurately document patient care, treatment progress, and any complications in the electronic medical record (EMR).
  • Respond promptly to any adverse reactions or complications that may arise during dialysis treatment.
  • Maintain adherence to infection control policies and safety standards for a clean and secure treatment environment.
  • Offer emotional support and compassionate care to patients managing chronic kidney disease.
  • Assist in training and mentoring new staff or dialysis technicians as needed.
  • Participate in quality improvement initiatives while complying with all relevant state and federal regulations related to dialysis care.
Job Requirements
  • At least 1 year of recent experience as a dialysis nurse
  • Graduate from an accredited nursing program
  • Current RN license in good standing specific to the state of employment, or a compact state RN license in good standing
  • BLS certification required for both Chronic and Acute settings
  • ACLS certification required for Acute settings only
