ScheduleThis role will follow a Wednesday–Saturday schedule, working four 10‑hour shifts (8:00 AM–7:00 PM). Additional overtime and on‑call rotation may be required.
Responsibilities- Install, troubleshoot, repair, and maintain telephone equipment and network equipment for new and existing customers.
- Configure, maintain, and repair Key Systems, PBX, Centrex, and other business systems such as fiber terminals, ISPs, ISDN, DSL, T‑1s, and/or DS3s.
- Identify location of defective cable, repair buried, aerial, underground, and/or customer cable, and perform cable fault acceptance tests.
- Locate cable and fiber in response to customer requests and construction needs; operate construction equipment and provide pole‑climbing as required.
- Maintain orderly log of locate requests and perform record‑keeping for cross‑connects, line groups, and network elements.
- Provide exceptional customer service, proactively educate and sell TDS products and services.
- Project‑manage installations and perform related functions as directed by supervisor.
- 1+ year basic technical telecommunications experience or current/prior military service with honorable discharge.
- 6+ months of basic fiber optic and/or copper cable splicing and repair, installation, or switching training.
- Valid driver’s license.
- Ability to travel as needed and work overtime.
- Follow TDS attendance guidelines.
- Successful completion of customer‑specific background check and safety course.
- Availability for on‑call/standby duties and occasional travel.
- Ability to maintain DOT requirements for vehicles with a combined GVRW >10,000 lbs.
- Strong technical understanding of fiber and copper plant installation and troubleshooting.
- Knowledge of telecommunication products and services (e.g., indoor wiring, internet/intranet, bonding & grounding, fiber optic transmission, structured wiring).
- Basic computer skills: databases, trouble/repair/dispatch systems, plant record systems, MS Office.
- Independence, excellent customer service, sales, and communication skills.
- Organizational skills, multitasking, and ability to operate manual‑transmission vehicles.

Pay TransparencyThe listed pay range reflects the minimum and maximum base salary. Actual offers will be based on skills, qualifications, experience, location, and role‑specific competencies.
Pay Range (Hr./Yr.)$25.13 /hr – $37.69 /hr.
