Principal Instrumentation and Controls Engineer (I&C) to join our Worley team in Monrovia, CA. Core responsibility is to provide detailed instrumentation and controls engineering design and support the project team from a technical perspective.
Responsibilities- Provide instrumentation and controls engineering services on large or mega projects to Worley and its customers, including technical support and supervision within the instrumentation and controls engineering team.
- Ensure all engineering and design work meets quality, cost, and schedule requirements.
- Ensure all design work is performed in a safe manner and complies with client codes and standards or agreed industry standards.
- Perform design/engineering work and deliverables as part of the Instrumentation & Controls team.
- Interpret client specifications and coordinate with other disciplines and the client.
- Maintain Quality Assurance by working within the Worley Quality Assurance system guidelines.
- Identify issues, develop solutions, and seek assistance when required.
- Provide guidance to junior personnel within the instrumentation & controls engineering team if required.
- Stay up-to-date with developments and technical innovations in instrumentation & controls engineering.
- Act as instrumentation & controls engineering Lead on specific projects if required.
- Provide assistance and advice during procurement, construction, and commissioning activities if required.
- 12+ years of direct Instrumentation & Controls design and engineering experience.
- Working knowledge of Instrumentation & Control deliverables, including:
- Panel (JB and Marshalling) Design
- P&’s
- Loop Drawings
- Wiring Drawings
- Motor Control Schematics
- Instrument Location Drawings
- Instrument Installation Details
- Instrument Specifications (Datasheets)
- I/O Lists
- Bill of Materials
- Conduit/Cable Tray/Cable Schedules
- Control Narratives
- Cause and Effect Diagrams
- Material Requisition s
- Construction or Engineering Work Packages. Working knowledge of Instrumentation Calculation/Selection, such as:
- Flow (Orifice Plates, Vortex, Venturi, Magnetic, Ultrasonic meters)
- Level Measurement (Radar, Displacers, Gauges)
- Temperature (including Thermowells frequency wake calculation)
- Pressure
- Process Analyzers and sampling systems would be a plus
- Competent use of instrument calculation/selection software
- Working knowledge (design/configuration/implementation) of:
- PLCs (preferably Modicon, GE, or AB/Rockwell)
- SISs (preferably Triconex)
- DCS (Honeywell TDC/TPS/Experion, Foxboro I/A, ABBxA)
- Knowledge of industry standards and codes related to Instrumentation & Control deliverables
- Ability to work on multiple small to medium projects concurrently
- Working knowledge of Computer-Aided Design software
- Working knowledge of Smart Plant Instrumentation (SPI)
- Experience with communications networks is a plus
- Competent use of MS Office Suite
- Experience in S3D
- SPI software training (including wiring module) a plus
- ARAMCO experience with SAES standards
- Knowledgeable in gas compression and gas processing
- Required:
Accredited Engineering Degree in General, Chemical, Electrical, or Mechanical Engineering or related equivalent with typically 12+ years of experience. - Preferred:
Registered PE in Control Systems or ability to obtain license; oil and gas industry experience;
Saudi Aramco experience.
- This position is in California.
- Salary Range: $160,079 - $235,411.
