The Quality & Engineering Manager will provide strategic leadership for the Quality and Engineering departments, ensuring compliance with customer and regulatory requirements while driving operational excellence, product reliability, process improvements, and engineering innovation. Essential Duties and Responsibilities- Lead, mentor, and develop the Quality and Engineering teams.
- Manage departmental staffing, performance evaluations, employee development, and day-to-day operations.
- Develop and execute quality and engineering strategies aligned with company objectives.
- Maintain and improve the AS9100/ISO Quality Management System and ensure compliance with customer and regulatory requirements.
- Serve as the management representative during customer, supplier, certification, and regulatory audits.
- Lead root cause analysis, corrective and preventive actions (CAPA), failure analysis, and continuous improvement initiatives.
- Oversee engineering projects including planning, scheduling, resource allocation, risk management, execution, and reporting.
- Review engineering drawings, customer specifications, technical documentation, and manufacturing processes for feasibility and product validation.
- Develop and maintain Bills of Materials (BOMs), routings, manufacturing documentation, and ERP/MRP system data.
- Support new product development, product validation, tooling, fixtures, assembly methods, and process improvements.
- Coordinate manufacturing process improvements to increase quality, productivity, efficiency, and cost savings.
- Develop cost estimates for new and redesigned products.
- Investigate customer quality concerns and implement effective corrective actions.
- Manage supplier quality performance in collaboration with Purchasing.
- Partner with Manufacturing, Operations, Product Development, Supply Chain, and other departments to optimize production processes.
- Develop training programs for quality and manufacturing personnel.
- Monitor and report quality metrics, engineering project status, risks, and continuous improvement initiatives.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
- Bachelor's degree or higher in Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Quality Management, Manufacturing, Science, or a related technical field.
- Minimum of 5 years of leadership experience in Quality, Engineering, Manufacturing, or Process Improvement.
- Previous experience managing Quality and Engineering teams.
- Strong knowledge of AS9100 and ISO Quality Management Systems.
- Experience leading internal and external audits and maintaining quality documentation.
- Extensive knowledge of manufacturing processes, process validation, CAPA, root cause analysis, statistical process control, and continuous improvement methodologies.
- Experience using AutoCAD, Solid Works, Inventor, or similar CAD software.
- Experience supporting research and development, new product introduction (NPI), tooling, fixtures, and manufacturing engineering.
- ERP/MRP experience (EPICOR preferred), including BOM creation, routings, and manufacturing documentation.
- Strong project management and organizational skills.
- Excellent leadership, communication, analytical, troubleshooting, and presentation skills.
- Advanced proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, Outlook, PowerPoint).
- Aerospace or Defense manufacturing experience.
- Certified Quality Auditor (CQA).
- Six Sigma Green Belt or Black Belt certification.
- Experience with new product development and product validation.
