It fulfills NASA goals by supporting the NASA deep space mission set, including NASA‑funded missions and collaborative international missions.
AboutThe Role
Senior Systems Administrator to support enterprise infrastructure operations for NASA's Deep Space Network (DSN) Administrative Network in Monrovia, CA. Responsibilities include provisioning, configuration, operations, maintenance, and support of enterprise systems that enable critical mission support functions.
What You’ll Do- Serve as the technical lead for Windows-based enterprise infrastructure supporting the DSN Administrative Network, delivering secure, reliable computing services across data center and end‑user environments.
- Administer and optimize Microsoft enterprise platforms including Windows Server, Active Directory, Group Policy, DNS, and identity/access management services in alignment with NASA and federal cybersecurity requirements.
- Support and maintain virtualized infrastructure (e.g., Nutanix, VMware) and Windows-based application services, including provisioning, patching, upgrades, configuration, and lifecycle management.
- Implement and manage security controls across Windows environments, including endpoint protection, vulnerability remediation, auditing, backup/recovery, and support for DRP and COOP objectives.
- Perform advanced troubleshooting and root‑cause analysis across server, workstation, and application layers; support interoperability within hybrid Windows/Linux environments.
- Lead system modernization efforts including automation, performance tuning, capacity planning, and hardware refresh initiatives.
- Develop and maintain enterprise standards, configuration baselines, and operational documentation to ensure compliance, audit readiness, and long‑term mission support.
- Collaborate with cybersecurity, network engineering, and application teams to ensure secure and reliable service delivery.
- Provide operational support beyond standard business hours as needed to support mission operations and time‑sensitive events.
- Minimum 2 years of experience.
- Strong Windows enterprise administration experience.
- Experience with virtualization platforms and patch/compliance processes (NIST/STIG/CIS).
- Knowledge of networking fundamentals (TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, VLANs).
- Working knowledge of Linux in hybrid environments.
- U.S. citizenship and ability to obtain/maintain clearance.
- Must live within commuting distance of Monrovia, CA and hold a valid CA driver’s license (Real ).
- Power Shell or automation experience.
- RHEL/Open Shift familiarity.
- Experience in federal or regulated environments.
- Relevant certifications (Microsoft, Security+, Red Hat).
Target Salary Range: $66,000 - $106,000. Salary determination may vary based on scope, responsibilities, experience, education, skills, and geographic location. Eligibility for overtime, shift differential, and discretionary bonus is possible.
