Job Description

The Quality Lab Technician supports the facility by performing testing on production and development samples to required test methods, organizing lab tasks, and monitoring workload and lab performance. Responsible for communicating in-process test results to production floor and alerting the operations team and shipping personnel to final inspection results outside of product specifications. Responsibilities include working in a fast-paced production lab environment with operators, supervisors, production support staff, quality personnel, and development personnel while maintaining a professional and courteous environment.

Job Type: Full time, onsite

Schedule: Monday - Friday 6:00am - 4:00pm

Compensation: Starting hourly rate of $21.00 an hour. A $0.50 an hour increase is given after 90 days of employment. A $3,000 retention bonus will be paid out in $1,000 increments at 90 days, 6 months, and 1 year.

Responsibilities
  • Conform to all safety guidelines and procedures.
  • Perform physical testing on fabrics in accordance with internal ISO requirements, ASTM, Federal, Military, AATCC, company, and/or customer test methods.
  • Complete lab testing with little direct supervision and ensure completion of all required product testing in a timely manner and verify that enough testing has been completed per sample frequency.
  • Enter test data into database and clearly communicate results to all required Trelleborg personnel.
  • Maintain test equipment appropriately, performing periodic calibration checks as required.
  • Maintain lab records, including storage of records and sample retains, per procedure.
  • Ability to read and understand test methods mentioned above.
  • Interact with on-site customer source inspectors to uphold customer requirements in a professional, courteous manner.
  • Check inventory of laboratory supplies ensuring supplies are ordered before supply runs out.
  • Notify Supervisor of out of control, discrepancy or unexpected results in timely manner.
  • Answer inquiries about test results and answer questions about specific factors that can influence test results.
  • Perform routine laboratory maintenance tasks including organization and cleaning of work areas.
Qualifications
  • High School Diploma or GED required; at least one-year technical, associate degree or equivalent manufacturing and lab experience.
  • Excellent written and verbal skills, as well as effective problem analysis and organizational skills.
  • Proficient in MS Office:
    PowerPoint, Access, Excel – SAP/AS400 experience preferred.
  • General understanding of SAP or similar ERP systems is a plus.
