Twist Machine Operator - 3rd Shift

Twist Machine Opereator – 3rd Shft – Judd Wire Inc., a Sumitomo Electric Group company, is looking for a 3rd shift Twist Machine Operator at our Turners Falls, MA facility.

Minimum Hourly Rate: $20.32/hour, $3.00/hour 3rd shift differential.

• Work from orders, special customer requirements, requisitions, and verbal instructions regarding wire gauge, number of ends, number of picks or crossovers per inch; determine required footage and matches with footage delivered from previous operations; meet schedules and work in BPCS system.
• Operate cable machines—load reel of wire into correct cradle position, select and set up proper closing dies and lay plate for desired results; ensure proper overlap, lay length, lay direction, correct number of conductors, and appropriate tape or binder.
• Visually inspect with micrometer, check O.D. conductor size, label reel and direct to next operation; conduct any required testing.
• Operate tapewrap and sintering lines—load correct tapes and maintain tension on both taping heads; run sintering line using print wheels and heating ovens.
• Work closely with process engineers to develop and improve running conditions; detect and report any unusual conditions.
• Maintain equipment and work area in a clean and proper condition.
• Perform other related duties as assigned or directed; observe safety regulations.

• High school diploma or GED and basic math skills.
• Team player; enjoys detailed work and willing to learn.
• Knowledge of ordinary arithmetic (decimals, fractions) and micrometer usage.
• Physical qualifications: moderate effort with frequent moving, average weights, lifting up to 50 lbs., pushing, pulling; long periods of standing; continuous mental and visual attention to repetitive work, requiring constant alertness.
• Working conditions may expose employee to noise, fumes, dust, solvents, hot or cold temperatures.
