Multi-Line Extruder Operator (3rd Shift)

Judd Wire Inc., a Sumitomo Electric Group company, is looking for a 3rd Shift Multi-Line Extruder operator at our Turners Falls, MA manufacturing facility.

Salary: $22.63–28.03 per hour, plus a $3.00 per hour shift differential for the 3rd shift.

• Work from shop orders and requisitions, move heavy sized wire reels to take‑off apparatus, properly mix components and chemicals to maintain stability in footage, lengths, wall thickness, proper die and leader sizes, and work in the MIS system.
• Schedule production, selecting shop orders to consolidate runs for best efficiency and to meet time requirements.
• Set up extruder lines with precise placement and adjustment of dies and leaders, maintain proper temperatures, speeds, feeds, and ensure adequate cleaning of heads, screws, and barrels.
• Operate marking and printing machines of various types to apply identification numbers, stripes, or legends to extruded wire/cable; operate multiple pay‑off and take‑up systems per shop packet or wire size.
• Perform visual and tactile checks of work, take samples and operate testing equipment to verify concentricity, OD/, elongation, adherence, and other specifications.
• Monitor operations continuously and make adjustments to water trough, speeds, feeds, and other variables to meet quality and quantity parameters.
• Detect and report defective materials, improper compounding, malfunctioning equipment, or unusual conditions to supervision and maintain equipment and work areas in a clean, orderly condition.
• Work a flexible schedule.

• High School diploma or GED with basic math skills.
• 3+ years of progressive manufacturing experience directly related to extrusion preferred.
• Use judgment to plan, perform, and decide on set‑ups and operations of multi‑head/multi‑line extruders to ensure quality, quantity, and schedule adherence.
• Capacity for moderate to heavy physical effort: frequent moving, lifting 50+ lbs., pushing, pulling large reels.
• Long periods of standing.
• Continuous mental and visual attention to detail and manual coordination of diversified duties; repetitive work requiring constant alertness.
